Hi guys. I'm thinking about HID for the vit, but is is gonna go offroad and more than likely through a massive puddle or hopefully a river or two. Will an HID kit cop this type of abuse? Or am I gonna be left with no lights and a water soaked HID . Thanks guys Cam
The ballast and igniters are usually pretty waterproof. If you put the light itself underwater then you might want to make sure your light fitting is waterproof. I have my ballast and igniters under the bonnet and they get washed down all the time. I don't go in water deep enough for the entire front of the car to be submersed so I can't say what happens if you do that.

My headlights filled 1/3 up with water, the HIDs were still going strong inside them. I thought they would crack and the ballast on one side went right under. I keep a spare H4 in the glovebox just in case.

only advise i can give you is be smart, if you've had your lights on for 8 hours... don't go plunging into a river crossing withint at least giving them time to cool down or else you'll more than likely end up with a cracked light

I've had 2 HID looms fail on me. 1 coming home from work and the other was when I was out on a night run. Lucky I had the HID spotties up top or it would have been phone light....
