Hey guys.. im having a issue with the the jimny..
everytime its over about 27' ish and i use the aircon, the temp will slowly rise up, switch aircon off it drops down pretty rapidly..
My aircon also makes some guargeling noises when its switched off and the compressor will also spin after the motor is shut off (if its been on for a bit), its still ice cold air con..
Now i have flushed the rad with a rad flush, pulled it out and cleaned it outside, cleaned the air con condenser, put a NEW visucs coupling on it etc..
i have watched it climb to 105' on the highway, switched the aircon off and it will be back to 91-95' (where it operates) within a few min.

Now my question..
where do i start?
it could still be the rad not flowing enough but i have driven at over 35' with no air con and it sits pretty happy at 95'
is there something wrong with the aircon making the condenser stupid hot?
something else i have overlooked?

FYI i have a digital temp gauge that has the probe between the thermostat and radiator (hottest point in cooling system) stock gauge wont even move till 105' if any one is interested!

I'd start by taking the bar off and letting it breath.

noob question, if the standard gauge dosent move till 105C, then what makes you think theirs a problem other than your after market (calibrated????) temperature meter?
my gauge sits under the half way mark all day everyday and only rises slightly when going really slow with ac flat out. rising to just under the half way mark.

Shouldn't need to take the bar off. if that was a issue it would get hot just driving around.
the standard gauge is electrically controlled buy the computer. it reads operating temp from 60-105' its more of an "idiot light". most new cars are like this.
knowing the issues with G16b's and cracking i want to keep it cool and happy.

What about when sitting at idle with aircon on temp wise?

How olds the water pump? I'd be checking that also.

I'd be inclined to think there's a wiring/switch/clutch etc fault holding the compressor on longer than it needs.

Mine does this to. Bog stock 2001 jimny. makes a bubbling noise when on for a while. uses 40k more fuel per tank... seems to drip more water then normal and gets hot when at a stand still for 10mins...

Try getting the rad cleaned out by a professional. I had a Carry van that was 80% blocked and they pulled the tanks off and physically cleaned the core, ran cool as after that.

Evaporators get damn hot! Airflow could well be the issue

105 isn't hot either, its why stock gauges are like they are, so people dont panic.

The only way you'll know for sure is get the rad properly cleaned, sounds like its blocked but it could be heaps of things

My Ducatis thermo fan doesn't even turn on till 107deg... 105 is nothing to worry about.

Ok so turns out this has all but fixed the issue.

I will clean up the cuts and make the slots slightly bigger.
It was 40' here today here when I left for work and it only got to 97'

Fyi the thermostat opens at 88'

So yep airflow. It was fine before I added the winch! Stupid oversight

Yeah I'm happy now.
Still has me beat why its only with aircon on.. must be that little bit more required.
Ah well something for others to keep in mind.
Ironically leads the factory gauge has never moved till recently.

low airflow plus the ac radiator preheating the air going into the main radiator. the next question i have is, some cars with electric thurmofans automaticly switch the thurmos off over a certain speed as they arnt actually doing anything...
mabie your driving just over this speed (say they switch off at 65 and your driving at 70) but you have the equivalent airflow of 40 kph
