Hi,
Picked up some bits for my falcon alt conversion but have come across some problems. I grabbed all the pulleys of a swift so i can run the multirib but the waterpump pulley does not fit and is to shallow for the pulleys to line up anyway? should i aslo grab the swift waterpump or is there another pulley which fits the sierra water pump?

Ok, ive done some reading and i think ill grab the swift water pump. Has anyone done this so i dont waste my money?

why didnt you just change the pulley on the alt mate? im still looking for one myself.. not sure what they would come off though

The swift water pump has a shorter nose as it is not designed to have an engine driven fan mounted on it. The Sierra ones are longer to add the required support.

A water pump pulley from an 8 valve Vitara should do what you need. They are deep dish and fit the Sierra pump. I ran one on mine for a while, way back in the days when I had a 1300.

If you use the swift waterpump then the alt and the other pulleys will line up. the other thing is aparently the Vitara waterpump pulley will fit and has the correct offset to suit the swift pulleys and still retain the sierra waterpump.

i run vitara pulleys on my 1300 had to modify the main one as its has 5 bolts not 4 the rest bolted straight on

ok, ill be running a thermo so ill probaly go with the swift water pump. Probaly wouldve just changed the alt pulley if i hadnt bought some swift pulleys already

im about to do this conversion to my 1.3L sierra i have a thermo fan , so if i use a vitara waterpump pulley and the rest swift pulleys all should be well

yeh you should be ok.

Option 1.....swift crankpulley, ford alt pulley, Vitara waterpump pulley on sierra water pump.

option 2 ..... swift crank pulley, ford alt pulley, Swift waterpump pulley on swift waterpump. Need to run thermo fan or find a fan to suit bolt spacingon waterpump..

Option 3.... all sierra pulleys and swap alt pulley to V belt pulley ... hard to find pulley with right back spacing Miss alignment will cause V belts to wear out and break often.

just get a bit of string and run it around the pulleys and tie a good knot in it. then take it to a parts shop and say like this and make it cheap

When I ran a V-belt pulley on the falcon alt with stock sierra water pump and main pulleys I used a 11A0850 belt.
Now I run standard falcon alt multi rib pulley with Vitara waterpump and pulley and vitara main pulley with a 4PK800 belt.

I've been trying to swap my v belt pulley for a multi-v for ages. I'll trade you if you like. I've moved from a 1.3L to a 1.6L that has all multi-v. This v-pulley means you don't need to swap any others.

If you get the length of the string it actually corresponds to the last numbers on the designation of the belt. I can't think of actual codes but if you go into supercheap and the belts code is 3pk1250 that would mean its a 3 rib belt and 1250mm long. That's how it appeared to me when I did the conversion anyway. So I'm thinking Want33's belts above would have been 800mm and 850mm.

most parts shops have a thingo for measuring belts that's why the string
is easy and fool proof.

OK,
so my options are;
1) get the waterpump of the swift that is getting wrecked for about $20, see if that works.
2) Get a new swift waterpump and hope that it fits $50
3) Get a vitaria 8v 1.6 waterpump pulley $35
or
4) Swap my multirib for a v belt?

I wouldnt mind keeping the multirib, but i still want to be able to have a clutch fan if im not happy with a thermo once fitted. I also think that if the swift waterpump definatley fits (can somebody give me a postive yes for the one in the earlier link) that would be my best option as its probaly due for replacement anyway and would be a good excuse for me to do the timing belt as well.

Cant tell if the pump is the right one as they dont list an engine code. Eg G13a.
