Hi Guys, I've bought a 95 vitara 2.0 a week ago, I then found out it has the 2.0/2.5 engine modification. anyway the gearbox is on the way badly, I was wondering if anyone new what other gearboxes will fit, i have no probs changing bellhousings or shortening tailshafts, i just dont know what i can use.

The gearbox in the 2.5 GV is a bigger, stronger unit that bolts up to the same transfer case, and of course, there is a bellhousing to suit the 2.5 V6! How do you know that they kept the original gearbox and didn't use the 2.5 box for the conversion?

I did this late last year. was going to be my 3rd sv620 box
starting from the front.
new clutch
new slave cylinder (bolts up on the drivers side)
modify gearbox support
rear drive shaft shorter 100mm
front drive shaft longer 100mm
change speedo trigger to cable
trim gearstick hole and console to suit (or obtain GV stick AND console with gearbox not confirmed if this would work but I think it would)
plus other usual parts bearings, oils
