I've suddenly wound up with 2 zooks. A VERY thrashed 1l (No floor or exhaust and a ply wood seat) and a decent 1.3. However the transmission in the 1.3 is very ropey. Does anyone know if the 4 speed out of the 1l (which, oddly enough seems to be OK) will bolt onto my 1.3? Are there any bell housing or input shaft issues? Thanks.
1st gear wines like hell and seems to be nibbling another cog, 5th is very noisy and the gear stick is very sloppy. I inherited the 1l with the property but am hoping to set up the 1.3 as a paddock pony.

sloppy shifter could be the locating pin on the back of where the gearstick goes in.. see PIC 1. these are renowned for busting and having the broken bit fall into the gearbox...
might be worth dumping the oil in the 5spd and filling with VMX80 or similar(your preferance) try adding some additive if its REALLY bad...

you can see where the bolt is missing(center of photo)

Well, the locating pin turned out to be a worn out home made one so the orriginal has probably done a few laps of the box. Have replaced it with a good used one. Someone also forgot to put the big spring washer back in. I found it under the carpet. Sloppy shifter solved. Thanks
