My grandfather destroyed a couple [of coopers tires] on his last trip.

He's not exactly extreme either, just tows a camper behind a defender.

they do seem hit and miss - that said, Moph took my thoroughly abused 2nd hand Cooper STT's up north and back towing a trailer and he's still running them (all be it he never drives it anymore) and they've been problem free and have worn incredibly well.

For grey nomad style touring though i just don't understand running an AT tyre, let alone an MT... the offroad driving most of them do can be achieved in a camry. Infact my grandfather completed 2 trips around australia in a Rav4 running road tyres towing a camper and had no issues at all, and he camped and drove offroad plenty.

Have racked up 40k on my Grabber AT2's.

Excellent tyres and were about $50 a tyre cheaper than BFG AT's at at the time.

a buddy ran them on a tj jeep years back,
they wore out real quick, so i imagine they would be good for a zook
but he did drive like he had lead in his right boot



as for the treps.... sweet, now we just need to convince them that 33x9.5 would be a great option

simex are soft compound but they're also VERY stiff in the sidewall.. .IMO - there's better bang for buck in an AT tyre.

I ran some Simitomo MT's and were fantastic on the road, in the wet and on the rocks they were pretty good too
I had a set of 31" Maxis Bighorns and it wasn't a bad tire but for the price you could get alot better

I brought a set of Sumit Mudhogs for my other 4WD after i was convinced by a few boys that were running them in comps and hardcore 4WDing (patrol with twin lockers on 37s, beadlocked etc etc)
My mate swears that they are just as good as the BFG KM2s but MUCH cheaper for a 35" tire

If the Mudhogs came in a 32 i would definitely get them but they only make them in 31 33 and 35
I'm about to get a set of Achillies MT's and so far the reports on them seem fairly good....fingers crossed

Regardless, they're going to get exxy because they look to be on a 17" rim, which personally I think is cool- reduces tyre bounce and clears bigger brakes.
Running comp treps is never going to be cheap.

So they are stickys? Cos bias ones do come in non sticky

No idea on price and yes they look to be 17's. Currently only the harder, non sticky, ones are available. It's fairly likely the softer one will come out but not yet.

This might be a good thing for us though, if you're running 35's you're almost at the limit of the suzuki drive train. It can be seen that DT CV's and 300m rear axles hold up to 35's but comp treps are notoriously heavy and extremely good traction. Who knows if a vitara centre is going to hold up to stickies?

Kumho KL71 in a 245/75r16 would be about the same... you could go a 235/85r16 which is 31.7" tall and 9.25" wide... pretty sweet size.

Creepies, you'l have to import them from Japan though.

Check out 215/85r16s if you want some more conventional tyre patterns, still a very rare size though.

There was that guy on here (Dieselsuzi) who bought that white ute with the JDM looking rims and creepies. Last I checked he was trying to offload the rims and tyres but maybe he'd be willing to split them apart if he still has them.

Look at 225/75R16, same size as 205R16. Much more common, many more choices...
