Just got my flywheel machined and it's time to put everything back together. So I was just wondering what I should set the torque to on the bolts that hold my sierras flywheel down.

If anyone knows that would be great!

Have a look in the service manual at suzuki info, should be pretty easy to find

I just had a look in my suzuki workshop manual and it says
Flywheel bolt 57-65Nm or 41.5-47lb-ft

i used a rattle gun and loctite... i had the bastards come loose about 20km down the road without the loctite.

Yer dont trust your rattle gun always double check with a spanner

Never had an issue with just a rattle gun, although mine is a good one

Use a torque wrench and torque it to the spec.

A rattle gun should only ever be used to undo things, never to do them up.

There is a specific torque for the fly wheel bolts given by Suzuki. Use a torque wrench to do it up so then you know its correct.

The issue with rattle guns is that you have no idea how tight its been done up. And too me "f'n tight" is not good enough for a ~7kg weight spinning at 6000 rpm 300mm from my ankles.

i've seen quality rattle guns clean snap high tensile bolts. no reason it cant do flywheel bolts tight enough

Yeah, I was asking what torque I set them too! Which I have now found out!

I'm sure a rattle gun could do the job just fine. But I would rather set it to the specific torque.

I'd rather not have snapped bolts on my flywheel either.

The torque setting is there so that it's tight enough for the bolt to do its job but not too tight to damage the bolt or thread.

Once again a rattle gun you have no control over high tight or loose it is.

I'm pretty sure that the service manual states to use a thread lock on those bolts.

Yeah I'm going to torque it up and use thread lock. Just an extra precaution I guess.
