So after saving for a bit I have no idea what lift to go for like I really like
The calmini 4 inch super flex kit but with a mix of people against the brand what are my other brands I could go to

Sorry, I don't have much of a idea of other kits that are in that high range... But, am interested in why you want such a high lift?
What sort of driving do you do and what other modifications have you done already?
I'm running a 35mm iron man lift on 29's and it has only bellied out, to the point of being stuck, around 10 times in the last 2 years.

Yeah my bad for saying 4 inch ,
I'm planning on running 31's have a rear locker one the way
In time g16b maybe forced induction bullbar winch
My main play ground is glasshouse mountains the odd trip to bribie island
Like as this is my first fourbie I will be modifying to this level
All Iv done to the car at the moment is cd player 6 by 9s
Extractors snorkle, serria front brakes ( bigger cailbers and vented rotors)
And a snorkle just trying to set out a plan

I would get some under body protection, rock sliders and drive it before any thing else.

A stock car can drive maybe 70% of the glasshouse tracks with a bit of scraping and track building.
This is me stock, driving the power lines with some help from the NBS Crew

Sierra brakes bigger than a LWB Vitara??? Err...

Snorkel and exhaust are worthwhile to get the G16 breathing better. Turbo/Supercharging is a lot of work and coin, and only a few have carried through and done it with any success. Not saying you shouldn't, just be aware. ;)

To run 31s the usual approach is to go a normal 1.5-2" suspension lift (Dobinsons, OME, Tough Dog etc) and a 2" body lift. 15x7" rims with something like -12 offset. You will also need to do a bit of panel beating around the arches and adjust your steering stops until the tyres stop munching the chassis. A spacer for the A-arm on the rear diff will help get the articulation that the lift allows happening, and diff-drop brackets for the front will help CV life expectancy.

This is pretty much a bolt-in solution, but does have legal implications (especially the body lift) so do your research and talk to an engineer if necessary.

Your poor 1.6 will struggle to turn the 31s with any great enthusiasm, so transfer gears will be necessary, especially for low-speed offroad work.

At that point you will be lucky to get two trips out of your alloy front diff, so that will need replacing with a steel unit out of an early V6 manual GV. Keep your diff gears (ideally 5.12s if you're manual) if they don't get trashed. Then your CVs will be snapping like twigs (especially if you've thrown a locker in the front diff while it was being replaced) so diff drop brackets and ultimately Hilux CVs will be on your list.

None of that changes if you go for the Calmini or any other retail kit with a bigger lift.

Swb vitara = small brakes there are now a lot bigger
And doing a 3 inch lift with one inch body blocks would have the
Same effect woukdnt it

Saw that the other day, the altered ego looks good, but the front strut setup looks dodgy. I'm running next to no lift (control arms and cvs flat at ride height) and 40mm body lift, with 30's. Seem to get every where, but I'm in an SV so its a bit wider and different chassis set up

Sorry, you said G16B so I guessed LWB. Must be a later model SE... either way LWB brakes would be a better upgrade wouldn't they?

A 3" lift (Calmini for instance) and a BL will have pretty much all the same implications - that's why I and many others here have or are going through it all.

You asked about 31s, so I gave you the 'usual' method. There are any number of ways to skin that cat, but you'll run into the same issues eventually. Bigger tyre sizes will require even more drastic panel work, gearing, strengthening drive-train and geometry etc.

Yeah I meant like in time upgrade to a g16b
Or turbo the g16a , like I'm just interested like
I want something that isn't going to die once a add
Weight bullbar rock sliders etc like Iv been looking at
The off the shelf type lifts and they just look like they will give up quick
But with the calmini once they die, heared the shocks are crap
Put a nice shiny pair of foxs in there or somethinf

Calmini shocks are rubbish, and springs don't last for ever either. That said it depends a bit on how you treat it, everything is going to suffer if it gets abused.

What the Calmini kit gets you is the bracketry - control arms, diff drops, heim joint etc.

You can if you want, but I'd doubt you'd notice much difference between a fox or King shock and an OME or 5125 Bilstein. Sure, its cool to have a 2.0 shock with motorsport cred under the car, but getting someone to valve them for you (quite apart from getting them to fit) is likely to negate any (small) performance benefit.
