How and what will I need to mod in a vitara g16b engine to suit this ECU setup
I can make a map manifold to suit, headers but could I use the late cam angle sensor
and also a custom 36 tooth crank donut for the crank pulley and magnetic pick up?

There is also the ZX10 harness

and TBIs

You sir have some wild out-of-the-box ideas! Quite intriguing thoughts! Before you even think about going down this route, do you know if that ECU has been fully hacked successfully? Because it would be something like a billion to one chance that those fuel and ignition maps are remotely close to what a G16B with ITB's needs.
You can get those piggyback tuning modules that can slightly alter the fuel and ignition curves over set RPM points but I dont think they will allow enough tuning to drastically change the maps to get them near a G16.

A project like this really calls for an aftermarket ECU

That looks like it would be very complex to set up. The throttle bodies appear to have diagphrams as well which would need to be set up correctly. I haven't been keeping track of the bike stuff over the last year or so but the bike ECUs are generally more complex than a car ECU with extra functions like individual mapping for each gear. I do know that there was a lot more work going into hacking the GSXR ECUs, there was a lot of information published but the main guy working on it went commercial and deleted most of it.

Those diaphragms pretty much reassemble the SU or CV carb counterparts to keep the intake velocity up especially at low RPM. The later models use a servo controlled secondary butterfly to achieve the same thing. I reckon it would actually be easier to tune the transient response with the diaphragms as you will never get a sudden in-rush of air causing the intake velocity to plummet as you most likely would on a small capacity engine with overall large throttle bodies.

My R6 TB for the bike project is nearly exactly the same as these but will a slightly smaller bore (38mm). I figured that with the diaphragm I'm going to have less issues feeding a small 250cc engine then without. The plus side to these TB's are that they are completely individual unit and therefore the whole rack can easily be split apart and the center-center spacing widened if necessary.

All good points! I just see the redline is almost double of the g16b so should fuel supply should be ample even for a 600cc bigger engine if using the zx10 setup.
The mapping using the piggyback EMS should help somewhat but there is some degree of automation for the diaphragms that detects reversion or low pulses I would have thought otherwise tuning these things would be a nightmare?

I remember the delco being a good setup for quads but the software is pricey to hack cheap GM holden delcos so megasquirts ends up cheaper but the bike stuff is so cheap its hard to ignore or not to play with as JrZook mentions at least the TBs can be widened to suit if need be.

I honestly think that the G16 will be soo far away from the VE's and associated mapping on the ZX ECU that the chances of it working nicely will be slim. Tho on the other hand if you can get an ECU and piggy-back for mega cheap it may be worth a play. Its a pretty out there idea. I guess if you have the time to spare the worst that could happen is that you have to go to a fully adjustable aftermarket ECU that will give greater flexibility then a piggy back unit.

Not a bad price. Tho I wonder how much flexibility that offers over the standard ZX unit? Your maps will end up completely different to the bike. Wonder how it goes with warm up and transient throttle adjustments.

There is little point in changing the ECU and then having to use a piggy back.. If you want to use a bike ECU then I would suggest that you talk to Padelis at PVTech:

The main reason for spending 100 for a bike loom and ecu then 70 for the controller is it can run quads and dirt cheap if so
The ITBs are 50-70 and a manifold I can whip up easy enough

This is obviously provided that you will have sufficient flexibility in the controller to provide sufficient changes in the fuel/ignition maps to suit the characteristics of the G16b. It *could* work but then again its a $170 gamble + the time playing with it. That's probably bordering around half the price of a megasquirt which would be the cheapest aftermarket ECU that has been proven to run ITBs.

If it does work out it would be a pretty cost effective ECU setup 8)

Piggy-backs tend to be quite limited, the problem is that the ECU can hit limp mode if you try to shift the inputs too far from what it expects. You also lose a lot of resolution, the piggyback will have a couple of maps that are used to apply 'global' corrections to the 170 or so maps inside the ECU.

darn it oh well first thing I have to do is get a baleno inlet, loom, bits and ecu to pass emissions then the quads
