Ok i have recently purchased a Grand Vitara XL-7 2004 for the wife, I am not new to the 4x4 scene as i have an '94 80 series cruiser set up for touring.

I have a few question that i cant seem to find on google and many threads that i have read.




It currently has a snorkel, Brand new 235/60/16 Hankook Dynapro ATm, double bash plates underneath, New OME coils and shocks and a HD clutch.
2.7l v6 manual

* I am trying to work out what the standard ride height is and where you measure it, It seems to be higher than most XL-7 i have seen but i dont know.
* I will also be looking into removing the exhaust system/ replacing the cat converter,
* Performance chips and are they worth it.
* what are things i should be looking out for.


My original plan was to lift it 2-3", so now due to not knowing what the suspension is and it being reasonably new it will be staying for a bit longer,

Also the rear cig socket doesnt have power to it and i cant find anywhere in the manual of a fuse or that it even exist,

Hopefully you will be able to help me along the path of this Beast,

Oh and it isnt my first Suzuki.
the first one i ever owned was an LJ80 Stockman hardtop 1981, had that for several years,

Nice rides.
Why do you need to know what the ride height precisely is ?
Lifting 2-3" sounds like a good plan.
Cig lighter: on my GV there are 2 places where I would look; under the dash on the driver side, and under the hood in the fuse box.
Could be a faulty wiring as well. Maybe you can access a bit by opening the jack compartment in the left corner (again if it's the same as the GV)

Trying to work out if the existing suspension is a standard height or a lifted height. So i have a bit of an idea of what to expect out of a lift.


Ohh thanks Pete...Yes this one may not get bogged, but want it to look the cookies, I think it would need at least a 6" lift as it has a long ass end

OME gear is generally supposed to be 35-40mm taller than standard, but if you can read a part number anywhere a quick phone call or visit to your local ARB branch and they'll be able to look it up. Getting anywhere near 6" is going to be a lot of work...

It doesn't look lifted in the photo, but the XL7s do have unusual proportions compared to other Zooks.
