Blew another R&P in the rear.... What could be causing them to die? I just dropped the bike off down at the shop and then I was driving home and it started clicking and clanking...
Any ideas??

Nope no water, not sure who set it up bought it how it was. Don't really flog it that bad, just the occasional drift in the dirt

Of all the vehicles that had a repetitive diff center issue there were two things.
Wrong ratio gears front and rear (this will usually blow axles).
And a bent diff housing.

Running huge tyres with a bunch of (otherwise sweet) mods ?
But yeah, a bit more info on what precisely get damaged (and repeatedly) would be a huge clue to the real problem. pics too.

How many diffs have you broken? Are you just buying second hand replacements?

I think Joe means different ratio's front and rear i.e not the same as each other.
Had you had it in 4wd drive since installing the new one?

Broken 2 rear r&p diff centers still fine...
Been using ls90 oil in there.
Running 5.12s front and rear 100%. Had this diff before i put the welded one in 4wd on both of them no worries. Weird how both times they blew in 2wd...
Not sure about the input bearing, if i took it too a diff place could they tell?
And yes they're all second hand replacements..

This would help. What is actually "exploding"?

After a lot of thought after tearing teeth off mine I reckon aggressive engine braking is a major factor, load on the teeth in the opposite direction to what they're designed to handle. Just a theory though. Do you engine brake through the gears as you slow down? I still do but gently.

Its normally D to 2 around 40km/h followed by waaapopopopop Soo i know what I'm not doing with my new diff! Surely it couldn't be that bad though? Those big trucks engine brake a bit don't they? I guess they have massive diffs though.

yer you need to tell us, and/or a diff shop exactly what you are destroying. Also if any of the diffs you are destroying are not setup perfectly (and id almost guarantee any second hand diff that is ~16yrs old will be worn some way), and then you go and use them hard, you can only expect the life to be short.
Back side of gear teeth arent as strong, but i woudlnt call them "weak", just they design the front side of the teeth to be the strongest.

Although still loading the diff I suppose. Still they wouldn't be tearing down through the gears like we would… generally??

You have the (second) heaviest and most powerful car Suzuki used that diff in. You're using tyres that are over 20% larger than standard. You're towing with that setup You're driving it offroad in what looks to be quite hard terrain I get the impression you're an enthusiastic driver
You're then replacing broken parts with second hand parts of unknown condition. Are you getting a professional set up the new diffs? How do you know they aren't on their way out when you put them in?
I'm not surprised you're having issues. Gv's weren't designed for the use you're putting them to.

Not saying it wouldn't, just saying a bigger pumpkin isn't ideal, lose too much clearance especially only running 32s.
Don't you run a vitara rear diff on 35s steve?
