Hey guys,
Just have a generic question. My cousins vitara is slipping out of first under load.

ie. pop it into first, as soon as you take off, it slips out of gear, into Neutral. If you hold it in place its, fine.

all other gears are ok.
I'm thinking its a gear linkage issue, this is a gearbox out, crack the gearbox open fix, right?

Is it a DIY jobbie.. ?

can you hold it in gear or does it force it out no matter what.

broken gearbox mounts?

rubber boot too tight and pulling it out.

check all the simple things first. the linkages are all internal so if its caused by that then yes you will need to pull the box and no its not really a diy

Yeah, if i hold it in place, its takes off fine, and i can let go, and it stays in gear. Its only on the inital load when taking off.

I'll check the easy stuff. I've read that it MAY be a gearbox mount...would thikn it would do it for all gears if this was the case..not sure.
