Wheelbase extension would be a massive help. Add 1000mm to it and the ride would be transformed

I imagine he means 100mm, but regardless, more is better as far as ride goes.

Sprung suspension seats aren't the best idea in my opinion. Their damping needs to be tuned to the resonant frequency of the suspension, and most light trucks have a very slow resonant frequency compared to a sierra. If this tuning is wrong, the end result could be a double bounce effect as the car and seat could end up both moving up at the same time.

When you say aircraft seatbelts do you mean a 4point harness? These won't work with suspension seats at all. You'd have to tighten them until the seat base was fully compressed in order for the belts to be effective. If you want to use soft seats as part of the suspension, look at mastercraft/beard/twisted stitch/prp for offroad race "suspension" seats. Some people think even these are too soft to work properly with harnesses though.

So if widening the wheelbase will make a big difference then that would take you back to the trail slayer kit with hilux axles would it not?

Except that has about 1" of compression travel, runs no proper bumpstops, and adds unnecessary weight through the hilux axles. As I have said, it's more designed for crawling. The trail slayer runs 100" of wheelbase, and I can confirm that feels pretty good. It's tough on manoeuvrability though compared to a standard SWB.

I wouldn't feel safe wearing only lap belts chasing pigs through scrub- hit a stump and you're wearing the steering steel as a nosering, but each to their own.

I was the one that suggested lap belts to keep asses in seats to avoid bouncing around inside the cab and keeping the drivers feet steady on the pedals. I'd still run the normal seat belt to keep your chest restrained a bit.

A decent harness with a good latch will add 1sec to your vehicle exit and all the practicality of driving a car.

I prefer this style of latch. I can get out of this very quickly.
