I will be doing a write up as I saw Joe the other weekend and parted with some $$$'s.

First on the shopping list is VW Passat Calipers. Grant Walker (03)762-7233 is my VW wrecker so $209 later I have

came with pads and the lines 8)

Pads are Bendix part number DB1449 http://www.bendix.com.au/catalogue/24734

You need to order REAR calipers from any Passat 2000 onwards and and you need the lines so you can get them made up with the suzuki end on them.

Next is the rotors. Part #BR513 They are the Vitara SOLID front rotors.

Then GQ brake line from ebay and most of the bits are ready.

Will explain later how this all works :D

The axles are in and rest of the bits are coming from the laser cutter in a few weeks.
When I have all the bits I will get the car on the hoist one Friday arvo and strip the rear out and take the lines down to the brake shop to be modified.

Pics when I get back to work.

Dave

edited: put in pics and some part numbers.

Price break down:
Kit $900
Calipers $209
Rotors $99
GQ rear line $38.95

My only question is, how readily available replacement axles would be should you break one?

Shouldn't be breaking any hahah, I haven't broken an axle yet even when I had the welded rear and 32s. Props if you do but.

Bohuler, so how much is all this going to cost you in total? Looks like it'll be pretty exy.

Edited first listing and added a price break down. I think on top of what I have spent there will be not much more just the brake line modifications and some vitara hubs.

Also ask B4T how hard it is to source second hand axles, from what I heard they are rare as in non frucked stat and if you can find them you would be charge accordingly.

I got a new axle and rear drum brake assembly for $145.

Are these the hubs you need?

Axles are exy to get from Wreckers and there is no warranty on the bearings.......

I now have 2 spare sets of axles as I had a set returned to me from Harrop.....

And when Bohuler finishes his conversion ill prob end up with a 3rd set

I am going on a wreckers run to chase up the stub axle that bolts to the wishbone and wheel bearing hub from the . Wreckers in Sebastopol has the bits and is $120 a side plus freight. If Centre Road wreckers or Kilsyth don't have them I will get them from Sebastapol.

Update time!
Just got off the phone from Joe. The test weekend away with the GV with rear discs was an awesome improvement. A lot more pedal feel, a heap more stopping power and all round top notch upgrade.
The laser cutter is dragging his feet so my bits will be ready in about 4 weeks then it will be party time in my workshop for a Sunday.
And no post is complete without some pictures...
Had the callipers rebuilt with new seals. A couple of sketchy bolt holes fixed and spanky clean ready to rumble!

(new phone so better photos!)

Only updates are that I've been to busy to get it installed. I also blew the motor up (tensioner let go) which to alot of momentum out of the project.
Maybe before Feb if I can get some time to do it.
