OK newbie question guys!

I have a stock height '95 WT Sierra running stock 205/70/15 rims and tires.

I want to put -13 offset, 7 inch wide rims with 235/75/15 M/T tire....on the stock height.

Will the 235's fit without rubbing the guards etc? or is about 215's the max that will fit?

I want to know what I can fit on the stock height so I can shop around online for prices.....car isn't running at the moment so I can't take it to a shop check clearances....just yet.

They look a bit like the Deestones my mate has on his old Hilux, just with a slightly different centre tread and different side biters.

From watching Austuff's car with dee stones and my mates hilux, I'd be inclined to say they'd work well

What's wrong with the KL71 sidewalls? I own a set so wouldn't mind knowing what to watch out for...

My General Grabber SRLs have been astounding me so far. I tried to drift around a corner in the wet last week - usually i slide across 2 lanes on this particular corner, but the grabbers just hooked up and drove me around the corner!! Not very fun, but impressive.

Side walls are very thin and gouge out easily. My side wall sliced open completely driving into my drive way, tyre flexed and ripped open. Others all have cuts and gouges in them. Minimal thickness on th sidewall before it goes straight through. And yes I do deflate them off road and run normal on road pressures not excessively high.

A thinner sidewall is actually appealing to me. "Generally" (very generally) this means they will ride softer and bag out a little better on a light zook, as they don't have 2 tonne of toyota squeezing down on them.

KL71s seem reasonably priced on tirerack also. Might be time to dust of the credit card.

They only have 25,000ks on them so I'm pretty sure it's the tyres and the credit card is fine not existing, cash is king. Yes the thin side wall lets them bag out well but the compound and structure tears to easily for my likeing. That and I want to go up a size.

wow that's interesting - i run my 31" KL71s at 7ish PSI offroad and spin them on rocks all the time and i've got no cuts or chips in my tread or sidewalls! maybe a bad batch or something to do with the size of yours Sco-tie?

henno - they're VERY cheap locally - cheaper than you can get on tirerack shipped - i've got pricing for around $170/tyre from memory.

I'll be buying them again. I can't rate the KL71 high enough personally.

Bad batch maybe, but deffs not great. I sussed out getting some replacements but loca tyre power wanted $280 for 225/75! Kenda are $180 in 225 and $190 in 245 so you can see the difference. Maybe the little extra weight in the gv over the sierra is all it takes...

The shipping prices from tyre rack have been pumped right up so it's not really worth it any more.

I was quoted $570 for shipping alone for 4 33s a month or 2 ago!

I'm probably not as hard on my gear as others on here, but I've done a bit over 10,000ks on my KL71s and pretty much all of my off road work is on rock. There is no major damage so far. There is certainly no signs of the side walls failing.

They are great tyres for the terrain I drive, I would get another set for sure.

with my new job, you're bang on... i do about 100km a week to work and back, maybe 50-80 on weekends. so max 10,000km a year.

previous to that though, and i the KL71's i was doing about 20,000km a year... 50/50 highway and back roads - so cruising and lots of hard corners zipping around back streets.

Thanks for the Tyre Trader link alien ... can get KL71 31x10.5 R15's delivered and fitted for $195 each. My local TyrePower quoted $229 each, so that's a $136 saving on a set of four.

I've got some white 15x7 Sunnies that I'll paint black and throw the new tyres on ... just pressure blast them, give them a quick sanding and hit them with KillRust? Not after a showroom finish

I have seen a set in person, they are quite aggressive looking with decent lug spacing and a bit of sidewall meat thrown in for good measure.

Saw a set in real life too. rather aggressive looking I thought. The tire shop reckons they are really good off road, but I take that with a grain of salt here. I have used some cheap thai bridgy's before on a work van and was impressed.

My issue is that I can get some 265/70 r16 normal highway duelers with 50%+ tread left fitted for under $100. With the vitara being so light weight tires don't pop so easy, the lack of mud here and the stupid amount of power I have, it makes the cheap skate option a little hard to ignore.....I do like the look of those MT duelers though
