im going to get some skinnys for my trailer, and if i can find a tyre thats not a million ply thick, i'll grab them for my lwb too

so idealy, 6 ply would be the go i think,

these are listed on the simex site

7.50-16 M\P Trekker 6PR 108/106L

yet to check if they are available

im happy to drop down to 7.00-16 if a better option is there..

or even order some metric versions from o.s. if need be
like a 215/85/16 Wrangler DuraTrac


outback retreads offers these in a 6 ply, but they are retreads


does anyone know of any other options in 6 ply,
or do you know of a helpful simex dealer?
im having some trouble with my internet, not allowing me to get onto dunlop or goodyears website to see if they have a 6 ply option

I can't find anything and I've been looking a bit now. I think they are/were standard fitment to the LandRovers in the ADF.

So hence probably quite stiff. I'd probably look into the road grippers.

I have some 750R16 Simex MP Trekkers. They are seriously aggressive (and awesome offroad), and dangerous on wet roads.

You can usually pick up Roadgrippers at larger tyre retailers second hand as a lot of people buy a new poverty pack 'cruiser and stop at the tyre shop to get fancy tyres and wheels on their way between the toyota shop and ARB shop. I had some for a while and they're a decent touring tyre. I have a set of 7.50/16 Insa Turbo Traction Track on the LJ and they work pretty well on that. A bead to bead remould they bag well and grip fine but are a little heavy. 32.2" tall.

I got a pair of used pirelli rally tyres for my trailer.

Aggressive tread pattern, i think theyre 6 ply, and no need to change rims.

215/85r16s come in other patterns locally, Hankook MTs seem to be pretty easy to get. I just wanted the Duratracs because they have that awesome modern tread pattern. If you look up the specs on them, they have near enough the same tread width as most 30x9.5s, but an inch narrower section width so not really that skinny, they just look it.

FWIW I run 16x6 6 ply bartreads on my LJ80v and LJ81k and they bag quite well at 5 psi. You've probably got at least 250kgs over both of those so 8 plys could be fine?

My local tyre shop had a catalog with an epic array of awesome (but very old school) aggressive skinny tyres meant for trucks, most of were 8 ply+ though.

Heaps of stuff (Treps, KL71s ect) come in 205r16s, only 29" though.

I wanted those XZLs so fucking badly.

Import some 7.0R16 creepies. You'll have to mortgage your house for them and doing 100kph on the highway will probably suck, but bias ply skinny creepies!

Why do you need chunky tread on a trailer?

Wouldn't you be better off running road tyres to provide less rolling resistance???

I have 7 rims the same, im doing a 6500km trip in febuary, id like all my wheels interchangeable without loss in offroad performace..
if I kill my spare plus another tyre I will just run the flat on the trailer and take the good tyre onto the rig,
also the trailer has electric brakes, would be nice for the tyres to grip going down greasy hills under braking

i just did a lap of the local tyre shops... all two of them

rolled a few tyres up next to each other and checked out some specs

one shop has 4 of these in stock and is happy to unload them at 200 each
dunlop grandtrek mt2 235/85/16




and additional tyres at 225 each

the guys over at AULRO seam to like them in all conditions... they even claim they arnt to noisy

if im going to a wide tyre (235/85/16) i guess it opens up more options
goodyear mtrs come in this size... but they are a we bit dearer

I also have a set of 235/85 MTR Kevlars, perhaps not a fair comparison since they're fairly worn (came from a dump) but the Insa seem better on mine these days... all this has nothing at all to do with your trailer though. Those Grandtrek things look like an ATV tyre. Might need to get a better look at them, not like 100km/h is a problem I have to deal with.
