Great forum here, thanks for the knowledge bank! I'm planning to get back into a zook. I had a dear little sierra that I did bad bad things to once upon a time. I've since bought an L322 Range Rover for towing and big commutes but the whole bush bashing thing has lost it's charm. Perilously close to panel damage and the air suspension and traction control just takes the fun away. Time for a Jimny...
I'm looking at a 2012 Jimny with a 80mm TD lift and 235/75r15's from Queensland. I live in NSW and will need to pass a blue slip/be engineered. Has anyone passed this test with the spec above? I assume the lane change test is in order. Not sure about a breaking test. I've called some engineers but actual tests and prices are vague at best. $1000 - $1500 is the ballpark apparently.
I could buy the car and have it engineered at huge risk of it failing or, I buy something and put 50mm lift with 215/75r15's and a diff lock - but this jacked up Jimny I'm looking at has all the other bells and whistles I want to put on.
It's also an auto. Since taking the RR off road I am a convert. Do any other Jimny users have experience with both? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
