I've just purchased a very low km 2007 Jimny (20k) and the previous owner did the last service and changed the Gearbox, diffs and transfer oil because he thought despite the low kms it was due time wise. He used Penrite Progear 75/90 which from my research is a premium full synth product with a very high price tag but did he do the right thing? Is this compatible with the Jimnys diffs, transfer and gearbox?

Firstly; well done!!
Very low km is an understatement.

75W-90 is correct for your transfer and gear box, but 80W-90 recommended for your diffs. So I've just learnt this weekend.

Sorry mate, can't help with that bit. I'm still learning oils myself, for now I just do what the book says.

I'll be interested to know if it will cause any problems or not.

The manual calls for 80W-90 "hypoid gear oil" to go in the diffs.
I found the right grade but nothing that said hypoid. I'm assuming that's no big deal, but don't know about using the different grade oil.

The diffs need a heavier oil than the gear box. You can also run the heavier 80W/90 in the transfer case. The 75W/90 is really only for the manual transmission and an option for the transfer case. Premature wear can be the result of running the incorrect oil over the long term.

I just did a search on the Penrite site and did not find Progear recommended for the Jimny.

Penrite recommend:
Trans Gear 75W/90 for the manual transmission
Trans Gear 75W/90 OR Gear Oil 80W/90 for the transfer case
Gear Oil 80W/90 for the differentials.

I then went on to look at the Progear. It might be a new range? It looks like it is fine for the gear box and transfer but maybe on the next change put a heavier gear oil 80W/90 in the differentials. I don't believe it will cause any problems and if you are driving through water you will probably change the diff oils quite regularly anyway so change it to 80W/90 on the next change.
