Hi everyone,
Need a bit of help, manual gearbox is going in my SV420 (3rd gear sometimes feels like there is no gate, and 2nd and reverse synchros are going) and am looking at options for a replacement or possible rebuild.
I'd love an aw-4 but my understanding is that I'd need the computer for it and the auto loom (correct me if I'm wrong).

Or rebuild the gearbox with some mucking around and probably issues.

Or what is most likely is that I swap the manual out for something out of another car. But what Zook motors share the same bell housing pattern as the J20 i.e. will bolt up.

There is no synchro on reverse so it is normal to grind if car is moving.
As for replacement box, nothing else will bolt in.
You are correct about aw4, it needs matching ecm and loom. Quite a job to retrofit.

Dam, thought it was the case. Looking at an SV620 as a replacement

i have a gearbag with approx 180thou on it... $2,500, will throw the cup holders & the rest of the car for free.

dam Gus, if I could get it to Nsw easily I'd take you up on that. May get a 4 door for next to nothing, engine blew up after getting too hot
