Out of nowhere this turns up in my workshop for storage.

I am not too clued up on these older models

SJ40T, 1.0litre

Remarkably straight and rust free but looks like it may have been painted again. The other door is around somewhere. Has a real bullet hole in the dash.
Not running due to missing carb and dizzy. Seats are badly perished.
219,000kms mostly farm work, I reckon.

Its not mine (yet or maybe ever) but is basically for sale I have been told by its owner

What would it be worth?

$1500 IMHO.

People might tell you it's worth the earth but they're the same people who can't buy it because they don't have the money, It's not next door, or whatever.

I think that's about right, $800 to 2k depending on what kind of condition it's in. Eg if it's all full of bog, the roof is cracked and mechanicals are farmered then no one wants it. If the body is mint (but there's only one reason you repaint a Sierra...) then a lot of people will want it.

I'm assuming it's a type 2 (Steel dash). If it's a type 3(plastic dash) then more people would want it because they're much easier to modify, not really worth any more though.

To a farmer it's probably worth 2 cartons of beer.

Magic up some S.A rego and sell it to me! :P

Yeah, I was thinking maybe up to 2k if it was running nicely but it ain't. I was going to offer $500 but thought that may be a bit cheeky to a regular acquaintance (who is a bit skint)

The dash has a lot of exposed steel.
Is it worth more complete or parted out? Is there anything really worth salvaging apart from the body and chassis? (Man, those diffs are tiny.)

Anyway. I don't have a vested interest in it and I am unlikely to buy it myself but may sell it on the guys behalf. Keep an eye out in the FS section. Could end up being a bargain for someone.

No, nothing is worth anything except the body and rails.

Yep, aside from the transfer case you probably couldn't even give the mechanicals away.

Even then, if it's not a shift light case, it's worth very little.
