i've still got the part numbers for king springs; KSFR-36H & KSRR-37H but don't know what shocks to match them to.

so ordered a lift kit today, in the end went with the king springs & some cheapo shocks. figure if i don't like the shocks i can swap them out for some OME or some koni later on (will only be out of pocket by about $100 if they're no good).

will post up install etc when i get them in & give my thoughts.

i could still go the dobinsons as far as i know as they're within the same limits of the shock. i know if you get the OME kit though they come with these king springs & there's also a kit that uses the koni shocks. beyond that i'm hoping the shocks that come with the set are fine, but won't know till at least end of next week.

Hi mate, The $480 ebay 2" lift kit with King Springs and no name shocks has sparked my interest too.

Have you got any feedback on the new suspension setup?

honestly, i'd say save the extra money for the dobinsons setup.

the back is nice & high, but quite bouncy. i can't compare it to another lift but it's a bit uncomfortable. it's better than it was stock, but i can't picture everyone here liking their jimny's if the ride is like mine.

the front sits 20mm lower than the rear, which i've already bought some 25mm spacers from paulw here to try & correct. it's annoying as the only extra weight i have on the front is an arb bull bar & compressor, when later i'll probably add lights & a small winch.

so i'd definitely recommend saving an extra $200-$250 & going the dobinsons setup. i haven't any experience with them but reading on here that set seems to have a very good reputation & is quite well priced.

i guess do it properly & do it once.

Thanks for the feedback mate. I might just steer clear of the cheap eBay kit.
Dobinson kit seems to be about $875.
Maybe the jimny bits pro comp kit might be the go, I think that comes to around $750 odd, depending on exchange rate.
Either way, I have to start saving a few bucks before I make my mind up.

you can get the dobinsons set from the supercheap auto website, just use the parts guide:

http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/spare- ... inder.aspx

if you go through the shocks & springs & click the drop down options under dobinsons you'll see the lifted & uprated springs, plus for the shocks you'll see the long travel sets.

here's the part numbers you need for them:

download/file.php?id=30323&mode=view

& big thanks to paulw who sent me a set of 25mm coil spacers to try & correct my sagging front end =)

That seemed to add up to about $1000 unless I chose the wrong parts.

quickly added it all to my basket & calculated with freight to sydney 2000 (if you go into your local store to buy it it'll cost you more than the website which is a bit silly).

$801.51

for the shocks you need to order 2 of each, but the springs come in pairs. the price above includes the uprated front springs for use with a bull bar etc. so wish i'd just put another $200 or so aside & bought them instead, putting my spring spacers in tomorrow to try & improve the height of the kings.

Ok. I must have stuffed something up. But, When I selected my 2013 model jimny from the car list, there was no dobinson shock observers available only dobinson 40mm coils.
Still might be better off with the 50mm pro comp kit if others think it's pretty good.

Just installed a complete OME Medium Duty kit, as I have no additions on the front.
Ride has improved a lot, but I noticed that the car is a lot bouncy on the rear. Made some measurements and found out that although the lift should be 40mm all around, I got only 25mm front and 50mm on the rear. Since I mainly got the kit for ride comfort the 25mm only lift on the front doesn't bother me, but the car looks unleveled.
Checked the springs as I thought the front and rear were interchanged, but found them OK.
Jacked the car and found that it has only 35mm downtravel on the rear while having almost 100mm uptravel, so it probably looses ground when going over bumps with some speed.
Any suggestions?

I have a 2009 Jimny and went with the front springs suitable for a bull bar and winch (heavy duty?). My car is level and I got around 40mm lift front and rear. ARB can supply spring spacers in 5 mm and 10mm as I recall and they are easy to fit. I got them fitted to the rear so it remains level when loaded. Talk to ARB about your choice of spring. It is always possible they gave you the wrong ones.

I dont mind the only 25mm in the front. What bothers me is the rear bounce.
How is it better to contact ARB? Through their site or is there an email address for inquiries?

i had the same issue hezzah. when i installed my kit i managed the full 50mm in the rear, but only 25mm in the front due to the bull bar, causing the nose to set down quite a lot. while it was like this it was very tail happy & bounced quite a lot. i added 25mm spacers to the front & it leveled it perfectly & reduced/removed most of the bounce in the rear end. i still have 2 spacers i bought on here (still in the packet), if you're interested in them shoot me a pm, very easy to install if you have spring compressors.
