So. New to me, GV needed oil seals on front diff.
Doing the job whilst I'm in there doing the hubs.
No way the drivers shaft was coming out, so the diff and shaft came out of the car.
With plenty of persuasion, the shaft finally came free with only a small chunk of the spring clip present.
Managed to fish out one of the other two pieces, but had to split the diff to get the third piece out.
Now I have a free shaft but no spring clip.
Does anyone know if they are available as a separate item? Does anyone have any old shafts hanging around that I could pilfer one from?
Passenger side shaft needs outer boot replacing. Any hints on how to get cv off shaft to put new boot on?
Hub tool. Anyone sell them on this forum?

hub tool can be found on ebay everywhere is pretty much the same price. the circlip can be got from pretty much any cv or drive shaft specialist for less than $1 just take the shaft in and they will put one on for you. you can take the cvs apart to put a new boot on by removing the circlip and hitting the cup off then put your boot on.

I went to Hardy Spicer this arvo. No joy with clip as cv shafts are now so cheap from China that they just sell new units and don't rebuild or do spares any longer. I don't really want to cough up for a new shaft for the sake of a clip.
Couldn't seem to find a circlip on passenger side outer cv. Just shaft going into cage. Cage and balls in cup with stub shaft on other side of cup.
I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually.

Where are you located? Cv place i go to have buckets of them in all different sizes and boots and bands everything. If theres no clip you just have to hit it out. There is another circlip deep in there that needs to be in the right position to pop out just like the axle. What year gv do you have? If you end up getting a new cv make sure it has Balls on both ends and not a stupid roller design on the inner.

ummm, they're only a couple bucks to buy new from suzuki... search my posts, i'm certain i've posted a pic with the part numbers of the circlip.

I will hit Suzuki up now that I know that you can get the clip on its own.

After treking all the way home to get my vin number, as Suzuki parts can only be looked up by vin, I was informed that Suzuki Australia is out of spring clips, back order ex Japan. Three week wait. $3.50
Luckily I tracked one down through a mechanic mate of mine.
Bush by Bruce installed, new oil seals, shafts back in.
Fabricated hub tool and got hubs sorted.
My next problem lies with the manual locking hubs that I got from ebay. They require tapered bolts, as mentioned elsewhere on the forum.
As I only have a GV vin# I can only access parts from Suzuki for that vehicle. I need a vin# from a Vitara, Sierra, Jimny etc to be able to buy the bolts. Would anyone be kind enough to list a Vin# so that I can hit Suzuki in the morning and get the car back on the road.

60 series Landcruiser ones off eBay are the go.

normal bolts & tapered cone washers, you will be able to steal the cone washer from almost any toyota 4wd, sierra's & most other 4wd's fitted with aisin FWH.

There are manufacturers whose parts catalogues will not work without the VIN, but Suzuki is not one of them - knowing the VIN makes it easier to find the correct part, and helps to ensure that you are not given a part that won't fit, but the Suzuki EPC (electronic parts catalogue) does not force you to enter the VIN and anyone familiar with the EPC can find most part numbers without the VIN.

If I walked into my local Suzuki dealer and asked for that circlip, the girl behind the desk would probably get up and fetch me one without even looking for a part number.

The part number for the bolts that hold the front free wheel hub on a Sierra is 09117-08060, on a Vitara the bolt is 01570-08253, and the washer is 43841-80001.
