The arms in the pics look like the GV arms......... Well that's what my GV has.

the SQ series all run the same lower arm so as long as they look like the ones in the iten description you should be set.........

But they are a prick to swap over.....

Hmm, thats why im trying to find some originals, something in the front of my suspension is not right.

I took the front right shock out (at the top) to try and put a spacer in, there was so much tension pulling the shock to ward the car i had to attach a ratchet strap to something in front of the car and slowy do it up to pull the shock back up.

As B4T said they look like GV arms, I too got mine from the U.S and mine are fine.

Your car wasn't in an accident before you bought it by any chance?

That's called spring tension...

You know the round slinky things that hold your car up? :?

Did you expect to just be able to compress the spring by pushing up on the control arm? :?

You'll need the weight of the car on the jack to be able to compress a coil spring any great distance.

Dont think the car has ever been in a crash, bought off a family friend who said its never had any problems.

@atarti4x4 i think you have misunderstood what i mean.

here is a pic to explain what i mean. (not my car)

I undid the bolt on top of the strut (green arrow).
There was so much force pulled the strut to ward the rear wheel that i had to use a screwdriver and hammer to push the top of the strut out of the hole.
As soon as the strut at the top was removed from the hole the entire strut SLAMMED to where the yellow rectangle is (toward the rear wheel in direction of the blue arrow)
There was so much force holding it there that i could not pull the strut back into line by hand and had to wrap a ratchet strap around the strut and out the front of the car (red lines) and do it up to pull the strut back up.

This is all with stock front springs.

I think you have misunderstood what atari said... because I think that is exactly what he was referring to. That coil is sitting there under the weight of an entire car, what do you think is going to happen when you pop out the strut? The coil is going to try its best to spring to full "unloaded" length which due to its position is going to push the bottom left (looking at the photo) straight down and forward forcing the strut to do exactly what you describe.

Long story short: You can't just unto the top of the strut, bash the shit out of it to get it out and then expect the compressed coil to just "sit there".

^ yep & probably enough force to do keithy some mischief & with the tie rod ends still attached to the knuckle it will force it rearwards.

Mikey did you remove the sway bar before jacking the car up & did you also support the control arm & take the pressure off the strut mount with a jack after putting the jack stands under the chassis rails & before undoing any nuts/bolts?

i think this is where the workhealth saftey take 5 thing would have worked.

my mechanic had it for ages, put the car on the wheels drove around and basically stuffed with it for a week and the sway bar is still approx 2 inches away from lining up.

Just thinking about this issue which is still occurring and ive just realised where i think some people here have misunderstood what i was explaining.

The above photo was taken from google and i drew on it to try and explain what was happening, at no point did i jack under the control arm, the jack was to the chassis and then replaced with stands.
