no different to normal shackles really, but would improve lateral movement.

no point unless your desert racing

Yep. Also doesn't change ride height through its travel like a shackle.

In doing so, loosing 1/2 to 3/4 of the length of the shackle in travel and possibly more due to the enhanced spring binding?

Yeah, sounds fair.

I can see a reason to use sliders in "low profile" spoa builds, but otherwise I don't really get it.

Suppose to eliminate sideways movement. I belive alot of guys in the usa that race leaf sprung cars use them. Alternatively they use machined metal bushes with grease nipples. Crazy yanks
