Just noticed there are really traction aids available on ebay.

has anyone had any feedback as to the quality of these product?

Looks like the ones i see broken in bits left behind in the sand in pics all the time. And i could get them from Taiwan for something like 20 each.
Says comes with limited lifetime warranty, may be ok if protected against the bellow pic.



Tred on the other hand are ok and Maxtrax competitor, in some ways prefer Tred just yet to get a set as Lowrange and reverse can get out of most bogs even to your belly . but if want cheap flatten out a old mud tire.

I bought TREDS from supercrap when they had a 30% off sale. paid $130.00. haven't used em yet. Plus they sent out free leashes.
they have ads on 4wd tv all the time. so simon must back them.

Treds were used to get my old sierra out of being bogged in sand on 4wdTV. I lol'd because Danny had to of been running 36psi to get a sierra wheel to bog into sand like that!

Plenty of these cheaper knock off's have popped up broken, pretty sure no bricks and mortar shops would be willing to sell them as they would have people in there complaining and bad mouthing their store all over the net. Maybe that's why ebay sellers and online store sell em. That's my theory anyway. Plus most of the cheap knock off's have "limited warranty".

Just chuck some carpet offcuts in the back.. not so good on mud, but great in sand.

while we're on the cheap end of the equation - old milk crates unfolded apparently - heard a few people swear by these, they also fold up to nothing. also heard of a potato sack full of sticks will do the job.

I've done this, they're actually surprisingly bulky folded. They worked really well with my friends GU but they were absolutely destroyed after the first shot.

These are what you want. Most cars fit on two of them and as I have 4 you can build a road across pretty much anything.

I have first gen maxtrax and swear by them there gotten everything out land rovers, patrols taken

I've got a set of TREDs. Ive had them over a year but yet to use them as the Sierra never gets bogged on sand

This is main reason I decided on FRP grating style.
Not as great traction as max trax types, but brilliant for "bridging" stuff.
Which is more useful on smaller tyred Vitaras towing campers behind them..

I borrowed Christovers waffleboards for AT this year.

Here's my feeedback:

Too heavy.
Yes they bridge, but they make some alarming noises. Makes me think they won't last forever.
No traction on them with a wet tyre. Really, none.

They did allow easier climbing on one track we were on, but we still needed to carry momentum up the hill because we couldn't grip the waffleboards. Made for lots of messing around because at speed we'd kick them out.

I now have some short treds (in olive drab!) but I haven't had a chance to try them out yet. I know they won't bridge, but we should be able to get traction on them.

After going nowhere in a grassy paddock next to a house I was working on and having nothing to winch off. I too bought a pair of 800 treds, They're small and easy to store and being a suzuki the 1100's aren't really needed. I did wait till they were on special at Autobarn for $119 and used a gift voucher making the $79.

I bought some of the 800mm Treads from SCA on sale, used them to get thru a particularly savage rocky section of a track down here in Tas, they are quite robust and will take a bit of abuse, paricularly under a Zook. My mate bought some of the cheaper ones off Ebay, we have used them once and they helped, but they are not as robust as the Treds of Maxtrax and I am sure they would take way less abuse than the Treds would, spose it depends a bit on how and where you gonna use them.
