Well the time has come to do all the maintenance work on my jimmy.
One of the cars problems is that the front seat belts won't retract.
Has anyone fixed this? If so is there a link on how to?
Would much appreciate your help.

remove them, pull them all the way out & wrap a cable tie around the webbing by the spool, some seatbelts will lock up if you let them fully retract & become useless.

clean the gunk build up on the slider up by the B pillar & on the slider on the beer opener buckle, wash the webbing in warm water using your mrs best shampoo... sunsilk or what ever, rinse, repeat & rinse again until clean, making sure not to drown the spool, dry them out of the sun. you can get some silicone spray & lube the webbing up for extra fasts, spray on a few light coats & rub it in.

I appreciate you taking the time to right all that. I'll give it a go. Thanks for the tip about it locking up I wouldn't of thought of that, I'd be cursing and breaking stuff to get them unlocked.

well i followed your steps and it worked but i did it a little differently. i ended up taking the belt completely off the spool and scrubbed the shit out of it. its amazing how much dirt and grime you get out of it. i also tension-ed the spool up a bit more as it was a bit slack. the reason i did this is because i had three spare belts to play around with, and the two back ones were basically brand new, so i tension-ed them so they look basically the same.
ill bet that the grand vitara front seat belts are the same as the jimny ones and the rear jimny ones look the same as the front aswell. but i used my original front just incase they were different.
this could maybe help someone else.
