Hi everyone,

I plan on giving the jimny a bit of a birthday present as shes 2 very soon and my first port of call will be lighting as i do a fair bit of night driving and this is only going to increase with an upcoming job change. So if you can give me your opinions on the following i would really appreciate it.

1)I have been considering chucking a HID kit onto my lightforce 170 strikers in the 35w variety. has anyone used a company called Delonix? they sell pretty reasonably priced upgrade kits. However I have just received my bonus and have been thinking i might treat the jimny to a set of the HID 240xgt's if they will fit. Would the xgt's be a major improvement over a set of HID upgraded 170's or shall i just stick with upgrading my existing spotlights?

2) I have a pair of cheap(2 x 12inch double row cost $120 delivered for the pair) LED light bars mounted to my roof basket. They do ok but Ive been considering upgrading these to something a bit better quality. Ive been thinking a single 20+inch single row bar to replace the two. what are good quality brands to buy? the Korr ones seem ok but haven't heard any feedback on them, the greatwhites ive heard good things but are 2-3 times the price of the Korr stuff.

I dont mind spending the money(yeah i know not really the AZ way of being a tight arse) I just want to make sure i get my moneys worth when i do spend it. thanks everyone.

I have hid spotties and I really really hate the delay in brightness as they warm up. Stick to the halogens.

I've got HID high beam (only) and HID spotlights (Hella Rallye 4000), along with a 22" LED lightbar. Love this setup! Yes, HID takes 5-6 seconds to warm up properly but once they're going they're brilliant.

mrw82 - Im not concerned with the delay in the spotties getting bright as ill have the light bar aswell which should be enough until the spotties get going.

Scrawn - how do you find the hella's? last pair of the 2000's i had rattled apart. are the 4000's better? what brand led bar do you have? is it bright?

My rallye 2000's came off Noah's ark and were brilliant, just changed over to Rallye 3003 nice light not as bright 55W but I like the position light.

I have a Rigid Industries 20" E Series LED Light Bar, not cheap, light is amazing when on the Hella's make no difference.

Just brought a set of the D2 Dually still deciding where to fit them.

i have a generic brand light bar, 14 cree leds @ 10 watts each. the light output is nuts, totally exceeded any expectations i had.

4000's are a pita to adjust but once you have them right they're brilliant. No shaking, no rattling, no movement at all. They're a heavy light though so they need to be mounted to something solid.
Light bar is from a seller on FB, Min Min Lighting is the brand I think. Few years old now but still a good light. Probably only 3W LED's.

Steve, they look good. have you got them? if so the 50 or 109? what is the distance like on them?

I'm running a pair of 109's. Distance is good, but it's peripheral vision where these are awesome- the verge is beautifully lit which is awesome for preventing animal strikes.

Compared to the ARB light, there's more light overall but not quite as much distance as using a spread and spot Arb combination.

Beautifully made, very discrete.

so a set of these mounted up on my roof basket angled slightly out with my lightforce 170's upgraded to hid to take care of distance should work nicely then? something to think about. Id never seen the scorpions before.
