Just ordered a tow bar for my 2003 SQ625 Grand Vitara. Does anybody know where the plug for the trailer wiring harness is? Ive pulled back both side dark grey panels in the boot and found nothing. Can't find anything on the forums either. Did find some instructions on other sites for US models but it seems to be in a different spot. Here is an example: http://www.hopkinstowingsolutions.com/doc/41245.pdf

Pretty sure there is no plug, need to tap into rear wiring.

From memory my factory tow bar came with a "plug and play" loom - it got plugged inline underneath the body to tap into the wiring loom. If you just get the bar then you're going to need to cut into the loom somewhere.
PS: It will definitely be different to the USA instructions as we don't have the body fitted rear lights wired / working due to ADR's. We have the rear bumper mounted lights and all the relevant wiring is behind the rear bumper bar.

on the vit's you can tap into the main loom from in behind the LHS tail light, keeps any joins nice & protected & out of the weather.

Thanks guys! I have spoken to a Suzuki dealer here in Perth after ordering my bar off ebay, they do sell a trailer wiring harness for my model GV - this must be the plug and play loom mentioned however they didn't mention it was inline. So I guess I just unplug the required tail light and plug this loom in between. Will post pics when done.

I just found the original instructions that came with my tow bar. The harness instructions 99000-990YV-A16 are for a GV of your vintage (I was installing it on a 2004 XL-7); it says to remove the LHS rear tail light and that's where the loom plugs in..... However, I vaguely recall that wasn't the case with my XL-7 - it had me puzzled for quite a while - and I ended up finding the correct loom plug underneath behind the bar.
(That's probably not much help.... except as a warning that the instructions might not be right!)

Yep, there is a largish white plug in LH uper tail light, there is also one in the RH but from memory it only has the wires for the Reverse light. I havent actually looked where my loom is connected i know the wire goes up to the left. Was fitted by suzuki when new. It was configured as a 7 pin with brake controler.
