Most likely blocked jets.. Pull them out and clean them up Attachment: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1412154445.874343.jpg Attachment: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1412154477.473141.jpg This was one of mine not so long ago.. Made it 350k's to Mt Magnet, the last 30km once I got off the hwy, to the homestead took me 5 hrs and a lot of beer

No, but you do need to pull it apart in-situ to get to the idle jet. You can leave the coolant hoses connected but the linkages on the front and the carby's top, including the main bolts have to be removed.
I have found the idle jets really do need to be pulled out and can take a bit of a liberal spraying of carby cleaner to unblock even when out. Make sure you can visually see a clean round opening down it. Took a casual 45 mins last time I did mine.

You take the two nuts off where I've got the screwdriver in the second pic.. Flathead in there and unscrew the jets.. Easy job really, make sure yours has a lot more hole than the one in this picture..
Can be worth dropping a little file out the bottom of your tank, replacing the inline filters and hitting the fuel lines with a little air just to make sure there isn't more gunk in the lines to block them up again as soon as you've done it..
If you do hit the lines with the air gun, blow from the front backward and have the fuel lines disconnected at the filter in front of your tank.. Then give a quick squirt of air from there back into the tank with the fuel cap off (that's important!!) to undo anything Blocking your pickup..

Fuel filter you can change while the Carby is still fitted.. It's usually located in front of the fuel tank within the chassis real near the rear right wheel.. Crawl under and you should see it..

magnetic flat head screwdriver is the go..
Personally I take the carby off.. It's not hard to do and it's easier to access the jets, but others will prefer to do it insitu..

It is over an inch long and is a tube with tiny holes down the length of it.

I think the idle/slow/pilot circuit on these things seem to be a bit more complex than people give them credit for, and also play up a lot. Maybe thats why our resident carburation boffin has a weber Here's a description of how it works Here's a picture of all the little bits Remember, the way outta the float bowl is a jet or the accelerator pump, I didn't find a pilot jet sucking fuel straight out of the float bowl on my various explorations in there, as one would find in an motorcycle carb. As you can see via the diagram, the fuel passes initially through the main jet and has various air bleeds do their job, an economiser jet, the slow jet, the fuel cut solenoid and finally the idle mixture screw..... Ensure every last part of this circuit is clean by disassembling the carb, shooting carby cleaner down and then blowing it out with compressed air.

In MarkoSJ's post above you are looking for no. 3 primary slow jet. It runs vertically and you will see the top of it when the top cover of the carb is removed. You need to remove about a half dozen phillips head screws and the 4 long bolts which bolt through the carby into the manifold. When you lift off the top plate of the carby which has the float and valve connected underneath it you can see the end of the idle jet will be sticking up and you need to unscrew it. The idle jet is not in the float bowl but you will see it there on the engine side of the carby once the top of the carby has been removed. You may need new gaskets if yours hasn't been pulled apart in a while.
