Brand new to Suzuki so I'm after a bit of info.

Is the JA12W only available overseas? I love the front end look of them! Do any of you have any info on them or how they differ from the Oz Sierra?

Whilst we are on the subject of front end looks, what is the yellow zook at the top on the page on the website title block? It looks great!

A JA12 is a Japan only model. The SJ80 (what is in the banner, better know as a Coily) is the closest thing we got in Australia.

JA12 has a 660cc tiubo efi engine and narrower diffs, the SJ80 has a 1.3l carby engine and wider diffs. There's more differences than that, but those are the main ones.

The SJ80 is arguably the worst solid axle 4wd Suzuki has ever made. You get all the disadvantages of a leaf Sierra and a Jimny combined (carby engine, lack of features/comfort, weak drive train, venerable tub) with a terrible suspension design, unreliable drivetrain, hard to find parts and virtually no aftermarket support.

So I'm guessing the JX is the better bet in your opinion? The coil isn't a more comfortable ride? I don't suppose the SJ80 grill/headlights can be mounted to a JX without serious body mods?

JX is a trim level. There was JA (base) and JX. Basically the only difference that matters nowadays is the JX has a tacho. Pretty much every non-trayback Sierra was a JX.

SJ40, SJ50, SJ70 and SJ80 are the different model variations.

SJ40 is where the Sierra started in 1981. These had 1l engines, smaller diffs, steel dash ect. These are easy to spot by their steel slatted grill and no bonnet bulge. On AZ we normally refer to them as 1ls.

SJ50 was released in late 1984, this had a 1.3l engine, 5 speed, larger diffs (same width as 1l) and a plastic dash. These are better known as Narrow Tracks (NT) and are easy to spot by their plastic grill, lack of steel flares and round air vents on the dash.

SJ70 was released in 1988 and is quite similar to the SJ50 but has a different interior/dash and wider diffs. The steel flares are the easy way to tell these apart from the others.

SJ80 was released in 1996 and brought a new front end style, coil suspension, mostly changed mechanicals and yet another interior/dash. These are easy to spot by the indicator/park lights next to the head lights instead of in the bumper.

There were various crossover models but those are rare so I wont go into them here.

The SJ80 grill/front clip can't be mounted on a leafy without major fabrication.
