I cant decide to sell or part the race car! I dont need to get rid of it for the money. I just dont have the time or motivation to keep racing it!

However I am attachted to it and I would like to keep it until I do have the time and motivation to thrash it! I know it could be a good thing.

So what im proposing is someone can take posession of the car for next year. Im not going to lie it needs a small amount of work to be ready to race. A half decent mechanic could do it in a weekend though.

I dont want any money for it. As long as you keep it safe, fix what you break and take lots of video! Im sure there is details to work out but thats the jist of what im getting at!

I think I will be happy to help when im home if you need to build bar work or fix shit etc.

You will need to have it at your house due to the missus freaking out about it!
Is there any interest in this idea?

If its room and a happy mrs you want I would stick the car in a storage shed. Lending race vehicles always ends with tears

In all seriousness unless it is a very very very close friend or family I see this ending in disaster. Is there someone you know that can store the car for a while?

Otherwise if you want more assistance post pics of the car and the missus and we can offer advice on which one to get rid of.....

Yeah I can always store it but I would rather see it get driven. If someone can get in it and race it without having to spend hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars building it thats awesome. Between aust 4 and superior there is a heap of events going on!

What if they have an accident, bust the car and themselves.

they are out of work and struggling to get by.
they cant afford and arent able to fix your car.

Would you be happy losing the whole lot, so you're not considered a dick trying to get an injured and struggling acquaintance to pay up?

Most people that race are smart enough to have income protection! But yes that is a valid point.

Income protection takes ages to come through, is less than normal pay and gets reassessed often and they will look at anything they can to get out of paying.

Its a good idea, but stressful thing to rely on, at the worse possible time.

I had it when I broke my back, and it still caused a lot of financial related melt downs etc.

I witnessed a "friend" (forum mod on a bike forum) bin another persons (another forum member, vague acquaintance) bike.
Bike was insured, and rider had income protection.
Luckily rider only had compound fracture on his arm, and was in hospital for a while.
The bike owner lost his bike, and copped higher premiums on insurances.
things got a bit shitty, but he couldnt do anything as he would look like the bad guy.

Loaning someone a race car = You might as well just give it away
