Hi All,

Did the head gasket over the weekend, everything went as planned, runs better then ever(poured fuel in carby). However the fuel pump has either shit itself or i'm doing something wrong.

What has happened thus far.. The shaft is in!!! Fuel is coming up from the tank, using hand power to move the rocker arm and the pump seems to be operating normally, on the car nothing happens. The shaft moves in and out as per normal. Hoses are definately hooked up correctly.

Could the pump be stuffed even though it seems to be working? I know that sounds like a silly question but i'm just done for ideas. Would having it off the car for a week dryed the diaphram out or something?

Anyone got a working one lying around??

Any ideas would be great.

Yes, it is definitely possible that even though the pump appears to be working, it won't actually be pushing enough fuel. I've seen this a lot.

It's also possible to install the rocker of the pump under the shaft, so it doesn't pump. I've done this too.

From what i've seen, once they get to about 12 years old, it's not uncommon that they give up.

They are quite expensive - about $130 Genuine.

Thanks steve. I had a couple of goes putting it on and off, so did my father inlaw, so i'm hoping we go under everytime, i'm pretty sure we didn't. I think i'll just get another pump then. Thanks again

i bought a pump kit, and re built the pump and im pretty sure it was a fair bit cheaper than that...

Mine is a sealed unit...rebuild out of the question
