i need to do some work on my swivel hub on my coily:

now parts for the coily in South africa is hard to come by - but the SJ413 seems easier to find:
are the axles the same:

A coily is an SJ413.

There's 2 naming systems Suzuki use.

First we have SJ40 (1l), SJ50 (NT 1.3l), SJ70 (WT), SJ80 (coily) ect. This uses letters to specify a series of vehicles then a number to specify the generation. This goes further too, a 1 may replace the 0 to indicate a LWB and letters are added to the end to show which variant. For example, a v on the end (eg SJ40v) indicates it's a hard top.

The second relates to the engine size. So lets take SJ413.

SJ = the Sierra series of vehicles.
4 = 4cyl engine
13 =1.3 litre engine

Similarly, a 2.5l V6 Grand Vitara is a SQ625 and so on.

The axles aren't the same but the oil seals might be if that's what you're asking.

I stripped the knuckle on friday and have a couple of questions

The steering knuckle has these small holes in them - is this normal?



And when I removed the kingpins I marked which one come on the top and the bottom, but I can't remember what way the came in probably can't install them wrong way round, is there anyway to check how i must install them?


and does anybody have a diagram with the parts?

Thanks Dec, i used that manual for the job, just some of the parts are a bit different - had a look at them Jimny sn413 service manual and it seemed that the coily is similar

I'm not sure if this is what you're meaning
In the picture below you can see my new bearings sitting in the outer-ring (cup). The lip of that outer-ring(cup) is on the inside so the bearing then sits inside. Hopefully that makes sense.

Re the other holes - they are normal, they are where the bolts for the bit of metal that hold the caliper on? go through that bit of metal in your pic. Hence why there is gasket/silicon stuff hanging out of it pushed in via the bolt.

It won't matter where the king pins go (especially if you have new bearings), they are exactly the same.

Thanks dec, that is exactly the part that is a bit different. - jazzor thanks for clearing up the confusion.

Regarding the kingpin bearing one had a washer like seal - and the bottom one didn't - I've been to 2 bearing shops and none of the can supply the bearing with the seal - only without.

See pics of bearings one had a seal and the other did not have one, surely both should have seals?

I've been through a few sets and never been given a sealed king pin bearing. They should work equally as well if they both have the same amount of grease in them .

Suzuki charged me 410ZAR and bearing shop charges 80ZAR for the unsealed unit - had a chat to a Suzuki specialist he says decent amount of grease and everything will be fine.

So I managed to put everything back together again, but I suspect I might have made a mistake somewhere, is I have no front wheel drive, none of the front wheels turn when I have 4x4 engaged - before I take everything apart again, what can I look for? Any ideas

Check the free wheeling hubs.

No need to pull it all apart, unless you removed the axles for some reason and forgot to reinstall them.

Haha. Will check tonight- I'm 92% sure I reinstalled the axles

Fixed - the other sides hub was stuck, cleaned it and added some grease
