Hello guys I am having alot of trouble sourcing a correct dizzy for my G16b.

There seems to be so many different types. The dizzy on my current 16b vitara has 3 wires coming out of the cam angle sensor plug. I suspect the dizzy is faulty and the reason for my intermittent power loss once the car is hot (bad Cam angle sensor). I have replaced all other ignition components so this is the last thing that can go wrong.

I bought a brand new one off ebay that stated it would fit my engine, and the pictures the dizzy looked identical to mine, and I could see 3 pins in the sensor plug in the picture but the dizzy they sent me has 4 pins not 3.

Will it not work? I have found info on 2 pin, 3 pin and 7pin dizzys but never heard of a damn 4 pin before.

REALLY starting to get over this car its one thing after another and I just need it fixed

Replied to your pm Sookie :)

So you had a 3 pin unit and put in a 4 pin unit Tony Evans?

What is the 4th pin for do you know?

I will try and find some more info but and pending prices may try and find a replacement item. The only way I can send back my 4 pin unit is if its still in the plastic sealg so I am a bit paranoid to take it out of the plastic seal to find it not want to work.

Also does anyone know much about the stock timing? I dont know much about timing so bare with me

I have found numerous photos on the web of the distributor fastened with the bolt to the far left and apparently this is 8degrees timing. Apparently this is the spec for UP to and possibly including 96 models.

Well mine is a 95 and the bolt is in the centre which is apparently 5 degrees and 5 degrees is the spec for 96 and above model G16b. Will this be causing an issue for my engine?

Here is one photo of many I have found.

My dizzys bolt is more towards the middle

It is very tricky and if you do not know how to set it up take it to a mechanic - That is my advice anyway because the disy in these has 13 teeth and it can look spot on but one tooth out and no go.

Get a timing light and use the timing mark on the harmonic balancer?

I'm not sure why so obsessed with 8 degrees by bolt position based on other pics.

Get it close now, and use a timing light when running.
If out of adjustment when running it may need to be pulled and moved one tooth anyway.

If it is 1 tooth out it won't run - I know - Been there done that and a timing light is only any good if the engine runs.

Oh mine did.
Id guess one tooth one way and it works, one tooth other way and no go.

Edit:
Even if it is one tooth out and not running.
A light can still be used to check when cranking.
The light will show its like 30 degrees too retarded or advanced etc.
