I promised I searched.. =)

Wondering if I can pick your brains. Just took ownership of an 07 jimny with a 50mm lift.
It has 50mm lift king springs and some cheap eBay shocks. I'm 100% sure it's this package.

Ride is quite harsh and really uncomfortable. I'm happy with the 50mm lift but I'm pretty sure if I upgrade the shocks I'll get a much better ride. I could be wrong, maybe the spring rate is too stiff.Anyone used the jimny lift kit package in the link above? I have no bullbar, just a rear towbar and a alloy roof cage.

I was thinking to go get some procomp shocks to match up with the kings springs.

Wanted to know if anyone can share some experiences with me.

Any help would be most grateful.

hey mate. i have that exact kit (king springs with some ultraking brand shocks) & yeah the ride is extremely harsh. only good point is good stiff suspension on the highway & towing.

for me i'm not sure if it's the springs or the shocks that are to blame. at some point i intend to upgrade the lot & most likely go dobinsons as they have a pretty good rep around here from what i've read. but sorry, really can't help you regarding whether it's the springs fault or the shocks fault in the package, could be a case of the whole lot in all honesty.

procomp es1000's would be nice.
i have es 3000's and their a bit harsh on bumps but handle really well ofroad so i put up with the extra reigidity onroad

Yes procomp es1000 is what I was considering as well. I did read they were quite soft but before I go out there and buy. Thought id concult you professionals

IMO the es 3000 is really good in the rear of my car. loaded up, going camping, ether driving on sand or ruts its predictable, has no quirks, and has handled being under water/ mud really well

the only con with them is when the car is empty, my girlfriend and i both brace when we see a bump in the road. we know whats coming and its kinda line there is no suspension in the rear.

in the front however the 3000's are awesome running no sway bar, 3' lift and 2"bl on 30's.

I spoke to king springs and they said their 50mm raised springs are of harder spring rate then standard so it's definitley gonna be stiffer.

May just consider getting new springs and shocks

jump into the 'rigs of auszookers' section & look at peoples jimny builds & see what they think of what they have.

I drove a jimny recently with complete jimnybits 75mm lift kit. Ride was fabulous. Not harsh at all.

75mm would be fabulous but way out of my price range

es1000 is their standard shock and likely what you were in

so you guys pretty certain it's more the shocks over the springs that are the issue ? would be good to know as i'm in the same predicament.

It would be the the shocks. King springs ride fine but couple them with a shock that had a stiff rebound it rides worse than a leafy sierra. The procomp es seires shocks are ok but for the same money you could get bilsteins shocks which are much better quality and you have a choice of different vavling specs to choose from (and lengths)

because if your springs arnt falling out your not flexing hard enough

@ monley; where do people here source their bilstein shocks or they just grabbing them wherever ?

I bought the EBay kit mentioned above. Installed it but never drove on it. The guy sent the wrong shocks and admitted to it but never solved the problem! The shocks were very different front to back and were different colours. They never fit properly too. I now have a Tough Dog 60mm lift kit. Anyone want my King Springs?

The kit already installed in my car has black shocks up front and yellow shocks in the rear as well. I reckon the ebay guy just whacked some shocks and king springs together and is selling them. Not saying it doesn't work but for what i want its just too rough. Maybe a loaded jimmy it would work well for.

For everyone else,
Im after a comfortable onroad 50mm lifted jimmy. Im going to keep the king springs but will somehow figure out what shocks to suit the lightness of the jimmy. Ive used KYB shocks for years and they are great but just gotta figure out which shocks in their catalogue will suit the 50mm lift.

I even thought about using new jimmy std kyb shocks and using those shock repositioned extender brackets. I found extender brackets for the front as well. This could be an option
