G'day guys , just blow my front diff in my GV SQ420. Will a diff out of a GV H20A fit?

Based on "research" using the parts manuals, I believe it will, and it is one of my considerations for getting rid of the problematic free wheel clutch mechanism - I haven't gotten around to actually fitting one though.

You'll probably need to change the ring & pinion.

What part blew?
vit fronts are not steel
gv manual 2.5l v6 front diffs are steel.
Wrecker prices start at $500+ and have to be setup with your correct ring and pinion.

Whats your diff ratio?

I have a complete front diff with solid centre (no shitty air actuated centre)
ratio is 4.625.
it came from a 4 cyl 2.0l auto iirc

The top of the centre blew , and split . How do I aquite the correct ring and pinion ? My diff ratio is 4.625:1. What are you doing with that diff jdk81?

And I thought the v6 2.5L grand vitara was running a H20A motor ?? I may be wrong though . So what front diff will fit into my? Any without changing the ring and pinion ?

The '20' in H20A stands for 2.0 litre - that was the motor fitted to the SV620 vitaras. The Grand Vitaras have a H25A (hence 2.5 litre).

In regards to what diffs will fit, don't quote me but I don't believe there are any steel diff models from the factory that had 4.6 ratios. Manual GV and XL7s all had 4.3s, auto XL7s had 5.12s and I believe auto GVs had 4.8s.

If you want a steel diff you will need to have the R&P swapped into one.

If you just want a replacement alloy one, look for one off the same model car as you already have. The manual SV420 vitaras (96 - 98 models) also had 4.6 ratios as well.

^^^that and SV420 manual front diff will eliminate the air actuated front diff, but you might need the RHS CV to go with it.

Ahhh thanks guys , so I can change my R&P from my old alloy diff into a new steel diff ? Was looking at fitting a GV H25A manual diff . For the reason that I dont screw another alloy one ! Thanks for all the help !

i would be surprised if your R&P survived unscathed.
