is that snorkel just for show?
doesn't take much to get them wet & cause a miss fire when washing the engine bay, having a funnel on the bonnet seems pretty dumb to me when doing water crossings.

sorry boss please don’t use those stupid plastic thermo mounts that push through the core, they have no place being on a 4wd, let alone a road car.

GeckoXL7 wrote: Look what i found Yep, turbo diesel model from O/S. I was going to suggest that, but didn't want to add fuel to the fire. Then again..... you could turbo your 2.7 petrol and fit a top mount intercooler to match the new bonnet. That's sure to help with your overheating too. PS: I've actually got some parts here you'd be drooling over, but want to keep them in case I ever remove my twin thermofan set up.

I can never work out Australian Dealerships... Overseas models get stuff we just cannot have like Air cooled front seats and seat warmers and DIESEL motors yet all we got was the 2.7litre petrol...
Their Premium XL-7 came with a half decent stereo with a Underseat Sub... Our models got some half assed Clarion Stereo with Woofers aimed into your feet.. thats just brilliant for sound stage.. They got body kit options we never got !
Any way back on subject.. If you reverse mount the Scoop you have less chance of water entering... but its your ride.. not mine..

lol, question was answered on page one... put the correct radiator in it & fit the factory fan & shroud. someone that fails to take sound advice is going to cop shit, end of story & that thermo set up is laughable at best & last couple days have been cool, i guess the head gasket thread will be a week or 2 away. Ignoring this... ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
But will post as important.
Anyways the issue was the thermostat was almost 10mm too short and this was a recommended Dayco thermostat so what was happening is that the bypass valve was never shut! so pretty much the radiator was only receiving probably half the flow it should.
I havnt had issues with dayco stuff before, BUT DONT use them for a XL-7 or any H series motor for that matter. might look fine on the temp gauge but as soon as you go to tow something or go up a hill its going to cook also even though it does look norm on the temp gauge under the bonnet is going to be around 107 degrees, boiling point cooking anything electronic. Eg a new good high flow thermofan that did a amazing job of trying to keep it cool. just got too hot to keep itself cool and burnt out. Enjoyed the extra torque while it lasted but at least the clutch fan would keep working if overheating.
Also a 2004 xl-7 shroud , which was sent instead of 2002, will not fit a 2002 xl-7 different radiator fair bit taller, also must use a much larger clutch fan too , i gather prob around 17" by size of hole compared to 16inch.
The Wrecker is sick of suzuki seems to be a common thing where THINGS do not match up and parts are always different which is why Suzuki probably always asks for the VIn number.
Well hopefully after i receive the correct shroud everything will be back to how it should be and run hopefully a tad better as it use too.

Back on second page: murcod wrote: Oh, you mentioned the thermostat being aftermarket earlier on? I've had trouble with other vehicles using aftermarket thermostats, going back to OEM improved things a lot. You can get problems with aftermarket water pumps too. Ironically, it was a Dayco thermostat in my Feroza that I was referring to. Yes, the radiators are different between the series 1 and 2 - so it makes sense the shroud would be too. I'd expect a Suzuki wrecker to be aware of stuff like that. Have you got the proper radiator now? PS: this site may be of use https://translate.google.com/translate? ... modif%3D01

New radiator is a xl7 one made by temp nsw, got the right shroud.
Pain in but to bolt shroud to radiator not much room to play with. Also drilled two new holes to move radiator back around 5mm to stop the fan hitting the shroud. Runs at 84 now.
Will be a pain to change hub or fan of have to. It's all very tight.

Saw a broken down xl7 this morning with its bonnet up, reminded me of this. So has it overheated again?
