Hi Everyone,I was looking at putting new boots on my 2002 jimny to replace the 205/70 15 on it now.I would liked to have got some 215/75 15 BFG A/T for it but when I went to order some from my local T-mart,there told me that there are none in Australia,and wont be until at least march next year! They also told me that they are an"odd size" so may not be available anyway.I did point out that the BFG A/T in 215/75 15 are listed in their christmas catalogue! So if your looking for BFG's in any size or pattern,you will have to wait or find something else.Just thought you would like to know.

Makes sense BFG are coming out with a new AT so might take some time for it to get to the stores

How are light truck tyres in regards high way driving for zooks? like the 8.25xR16?

I think the general consensus is that the heavy duty sidewalls in light truck tyres make zooks ride like absolute rubbish.

235/85R16 is probably a better size and available in oodles of different brands and tread patterns with far softer sidewalls.

The 8.25's I've seen have had stratospheric load ratings and are crazy crazy heavy. I wouldn't run them on a sierra.

I had 6.50x16 truck tyres on my Sierra and it sucked.

A) no idea. Toyo seem to be producing pretty good tyres though.
B) no. The design of the rim prevents a weld on beadlock being fitted. Offset changes are also difficult without throwing the rim away and just retaining the centre.

The 35x12.50r16 trepador comps in the standard compound just arrived in the UK so I'm guessing your local maxxis dealers should be able to get them as well?

Think Ninjamoses is the only one to find a rim that clears the lwb calipers. SWB j20a can fit 16x7 -12 Sunnys and the 1.6 can fit 15s I believe. Can make 16x7 Sunnys if you grind the calipers to clear.

next time you have a front wheel off, can you grab a pic of the caliper & caliper mount & throw it in the soup kitchen?

Sorry that wasnt aimed at anyone in particular, I just remembered the 35" comp treps were mentioned earlier in this thread and quite a few people sounded interested, wondering if and when they were going to be available in other countries. So thought I'd post up that we now have them in the UK and I would presume that maxxis dealers would also be able to get them in Australia for anyone that might be interested.

I like 255/85R16 as a size - works great on a Range Rover Classic.
An alternative is 33x9.5R16 Silverstone MT117 Extreme - cheap & work even better in mud.
Also 33x10.5R15 is available from BFG & Maxis, but 15" rims don't fit over SQ625 front brakes
A 33" tyre on a GV is a big ask, but has been done (body lift)
The next tyres I buy for my GV will be 215/85R16 on modded std steel wheel centres with a 6.5" rim to give a bit more offest & chassis clearance.
Not a great range of tyres, but something like Hankook Dynapro MT would have to give me benefit over the BFG A/T KO's I currently run.

The ifs toy has 35 no body lift and only 2in lift so 33 on 4in lift should be ok with 3-4 bump stop spacing. From what ive seen on the net the 255 85 16 are almost as big as 35 km2 which are only like 33.75 " tall. Most brand measure bigger then 33in
From what ive seen Silverstones are a pretty crap tire. There even worse then simex and they are pretty bad on anything other then mud. Mate sold his 35 after like a month they were that bad .

There'd be a fairly big difference in width though; something in the range of 2-2.5"?

BFG lists the 255/85R16 at 33.3", the 315/75R16 at 34.8"?

I'm running the 32s on stock bumpstops with no scrubbing. I do suspect when I go 255s they will rub on the inner guard on full compression. Front should be ok.
