Hi Guys,
Im having trouble with my 92 SWB vitara.
when it goes over about 3000 revs in 5th gear on the road it seams to starve or something. it jumps about and splatters for from 100 meters to a KM in little spurts of a few seconds at a time and maybe half a dozen times.
I haven't had it do this at any other time.

What do you guys think it could be, and is it an easy fix or something major?

Thanks in advance

I'd start by checking/changing the fuel filter.

Yeah, stating the obvious but sounds like fuel starvation,change/check filter, pump then carby.then look at dizzy & coil.If not fuel/spark then you have to look at Timing/Valves,cam belt can jump a notch which means engine will run but not at high revs or under load.

1992? is that g16a carby or g16b efi? those symptoms sound pretty similar to when the mechanical fuel pump on my carby vit was failing

I'd look at the pump (after replacing the filter.)

22 years out of a fuel pump is pretty good going. Many haven't lasted that long.
