Normally it's just gunk built up in the runner try cleaning it out

or do as scottie suggested & a little trick i learnt along time ago... pull the belts out completely, extend them, put a peg on the webbing by the reel to stop it retracting & wash the webbing in your mrs best shampoo & conditioner, rinse, repeat, rinse, rinse, rinse, dry, reinstall.
