Hi guys

Last night coming home, I did a drop clutch at the lights .

Once this happened I lost all drive.

I rolled it off the road, thought diff at first, but put in to 4wd and still no drive.

Towed it home. Turned the tail shaft out of the box and it turns the back wheels so transfer ok.

Clutch is moving but I can put it in to any gear without the clutch in even reverse.

Do you think the clutch is stuff or the G box.

Hoping clutch, going to pull the box out tonight, but hoping for some ideas.

If G/Box, has anyone got a second hand VVT box in Sydney area that isn't $1400 as quoted by a wrecker.

clutch cable or another component could be jamed holding the clutch open, preventing the springs from returning it to closed.

Clutch bearing is pushing the clutch springs and returning to normal position once released

Snapped mainshaft is pretty common in with those gearboxes. Results in no drive and requires a replacement gearbox.

Ok, Got the box out, It turns out i have snapped the output shaft. the tails shaft has the remains of the rear shaft in it. It is a clean snap. Hopefully i can just change the output shaft to get her running again,

You should look for play in the transfer case as well. If there was enough force to snap that shaft there is a good chance you have stretched the transfer case chain.

That's the mainshaft.

It will be cheaper and easier to fit a second hand gearbox. There's probably 20 components attached to the mainshaft inside the gearbox. Suzuki will want an arm and a leg for a new one too.

Just out of interest, could you please measure the diameter of the shaft near where it broke?

Got the gear box to work today. Took 5 minutes to get the output shaft out. It isn't part of the gear set. It is a small shaft that sits in the back of the housing. It is only $160 plus GST, problem is it is 2 weeks away. Still not an expensive repair. Giving the workshop Forman a set of Max Tracks to do it. Saves me worrying about it.

Everything else looks ok.

Once fixed I am selling it.. Over the 4wding thing, get the Mrs a Swift me thinks

Lol Don't worry, the forman said the same thing until he opened the rear housing on the box. He has never seen this type of setup before
