hi all, trying to replace the timing cover on my sj80 which i think has had an engine swap caus it has g13a stamped on the block not g13ba which i think it should be, correct? anyway ordered a sj70 one from suzisport i thought would be it as it has no inspection hole like suzisport shows on the sj80 parts.. DOESNT FIT!!!! sj80 part no 11390 51g00g sj70 part no 11390 82010g mine 11390 60a11 which google tells me its from a suzy sidekick 1.6 and is about an inch longer.
what hybrid bloody engine do i have??
also while im here, does a sj80 have a battery/alternator light?
thanks fellas.

Can you chuck up some pics, or send them to someone who can on your behalf?

Looks like they sent you the wrong part - assuming you specifically mentioned G13 in you order, which you probably did if you ordered online with one of those Internet list-box thingies. G16 covers are longer because the block is about an inch ( your words, not mine! Sorry - everyone gives me crap about how I am occasionally Metrically-challenged in my posts... ) longer. Call Suzisport and get a replacement for the wrong part they sent you..

Nah, i think they sent the right one (to what i ordered)the part numbers match up.
its my engine that is all faaaarked up! it is stamped g13a but is a inch longer and has a vitara 1.6 timing cover?? i don't get it.
interestingly, in the 4x4 facebook page that i fount it on there was a discrepancy on the motor was in it, an old owner said it was a 1.6 but the seller said it wasn't.

Capacity is cast onto the block on the lhs near the timing cover on the bell housing. If that's been ground off then obviously someone was trying to pass off a G16 as a g13 for registration purposes.
Steve.

Steve. To amplify on Steve's post, It should read 1324CC for a G13A, 1296 for a G13B and 1590CC for a G16 on the edge of the engine block right next to the timing plug on the Sierra gearbox. All of this is located on the extractor side of the engine. As usual, an overall picture of the top of the engine and the rear, extractor edge of the engine would be helpful.... I hope that this helps!

Its passenger side, maybe hidden/difficult to see due to the extractors. can be at the top of the block on passenger side, near the back. or on the top of the block on the back, passenger side of the back.
A pic of engine number and area would be helpful.

The motor mounts look very 1.3-like to me as does the valve cover.
The distributor looks too old-style for a 1.6 8-valve.
Then again, I'm way the eff over here where the water allegedly swirls down the turlet clockwise...
A pic of that flat area where the displacement is cast into the block next to the gearbox is what needs to be seen.

Thats a g16. You c a n tell by the very first pic . To the left of the s16 that rectangular part of the casting is flush with the head surface on a g13. Also the part number of your original timing cover.
