I've noticed there are quite a few Jimnys running Sierra transfers these days and it's got me thinking, what's the cost?
I know you have to find a case (that can sometimes take a while), maybe get a set of good reduction gears if it's still stock, then buy the mounting kit with new support brackets, a new/modified prop shaft and maybe a drive shaft? And finally some manual hubs or something to sort out your vacuum system and dodgy up a shifter handle for the newer models.
If you wouldn't might throwing in some nice round numbers of roughly what your conversion cost, just to get a better idea of what's involved.

for 2005+ models they need to have an old jimmy gearbox too if Im not wrong

Cheers mate.
I've been flicking through the various tech threads in the topic, but I'm more interested in the cost.
There is a few bits and pieces to put together for this mod and I'm thinking they would all add up to a bit more then people expect.
My guesses were something like;
Sierra transfer= $200-$400?
Mounting kit= $200?
Modified shafts= $50-$100?
Any bearings or seals that need to be replaced on old transfers= $50??
Reduction gears (if required)= $400-$600??
I'm thinking in all reality this would cost upwards of $800 and was hoping someone could give their actual costs.

My conversion cost me around $500
Conversion kit $300
T-case with 4.16 gears picked that up for $150
Drive shafts free
Misc. $50
But realistically $800 is what you should budget for

Just weighing up my options;
I can get a set of 77% low only reduction gears landed from Japan for about $900. I can have them at my door in 7-9 days.
Or
I can chase around all the bits needed for the Sierra transfer. Who knows how long that might take me. Plus all the work needed to fit the swap in to a VVT push button Jimny.
If there was a massive saving in the swap I'd think about it. But looks like I'll be going for the gears into my current push button transfer.

there was a talk about jimmy transfer reduction gears from Europe too. Think Bugsta was bit more involved in communications with them, but dont know what happened. They offered reduction in both hi-low with different %, with realistic numbers for 215-235 tyres instead of a 31+ size reduction option only like trialjimny used to be.
plus and extra reduction in Low only

yeah mine wasn't cheap
$ 260ish ORA transfer adapter kit
$ 700ish 4.9 gears with full rebuild kit for the case
$ 250 sierra transfer
$ 50ish jimny bits transfer case bushes
the gears for the jimny case always interested me because of the reduction only in low range, but the fact its chain drive steered me away. having said that, I didn't have a push button transfer case, so the decision was a bit easier
