would appreciate some help with the following questions;
1. should i replace intake & exhaust gaskets or is it ok to reuse old ones ?
2. can i replace the crankshaft seals (front & rear) by just removing the sump, or would the crankshaft need to come out also ?
3. is it worth changing the welch plugs, they appear to be in good condition ?
thanks, no doubt i'll have more dumb questions as i go.

forgot this one:
4. what are the bell housing bolt threads ? i'm guessing they're 12mm, but by what pitch, are they 1.25 or 1.5 or something altogether different ?

Intake gasket is paper and will need replacing if the intake manifold is coming off, Exhaust is good to reuse.
No need to remove crankshaft, Sump needs to come off anyway since you're swapping to jimny.
I didn't bother with my welch plugs, The coolant system was really clean.

Round seals. I've always taken the oil pump and rear seal housing off the replace them (requiring new paper gaskets or permatex ultra grey), I can't see why you can't use a seal picker and take them out that way. Front seal will look similar to this.

lol, thanks for your help but yet another dump question. iirc the baleno has a sensor on the oil pump that's not on the jimny & needs to be plugged, i'm guessing fitting a new jimny oil pump will also fix that issue. does that sound right or am i thinking about an entirely different thing ?

Without having the 2 side by side it's hard to say, But can't imagine they'd be that different, Except the hole for the crank sensor in the baleno one. Someone else with more knowledge might be able to answer that better than I.

A vit/1.6 swift oil pump swaps over. Dont know if jimny is the same, and cbf testing. You can just plug the hole.
Use new gaskets, they come in a kit (vrs kit)
swap the shaft seals - pry them out of the front, can pry the rear main out or remove the small alloy piece. cam and front main are the same size/type etc. 1 comes in a vrs kit. do timing belt, tensioner and waterpump whilst all apart.
I have heard there is a good tech thread, perhaps people have dealt with these types of issues before?

thanks for that guys !
read pretty much every tech thread here & on big jimny about doing the g13b to g16b swap but just little specifics like these are generally left out, or they just reuse the old parts which i'm not sure is the most reliable thing to do.
saw the vrs gasket set on ebay & it's not even $100 so was going to grab it based on what i saw in here, unless someone has tried it & found it to be terrible.
