Hey all,

What on earth is the pitch/thread on the Jimny's gearstick? I bought a cusco poly gear knob in the mitsubishi/common jap car thread size of 12X1.25 and it's way too small for the jimmy thread. Any ideas?

Buy a thread gauge, or if its cheaper buy a range of nuts to test

I have a B&M shift handle on mine, it screwed straight on. Listing for it say it's 1/2in-20

My Sierra and Vitara are both M12x1.25

Every listing for B&M handles shows it as this size. I was surprised that it just threaded straight on. But yeah I agree that it seems ridiculously unlikely.

Some metric and UNC/Whit threads are very close up-to and including 1/2"

Update - the size is definitely 1/2in-20.

Bought a BM plastic ball shifter and fit straight on. Thanks!

As Tony said, 1/2-20 is very close to 12mm x 1.25

1/2" is closer to 13mm

I said 12mm x 1.25, as a 12mm x 1.25 bolt fits into a 1/2-20 nut without binding.

But i hope its imperial.

Well add something to the thread by finding a metric thread that is virtually the same as 1/2in-20 so that you don't have to destroy a perfectly good hat

No, It was a Cusco knob (all instructions in nihongu) and had no measurements on its packaging. It's highly likely that the seller did send me the wrong size though. 1/2 inch will definitely fit without problems for what it's worth though.
