just get the cheapest you can in the size that suits? Bob Jane etc always have buy 3 get 1 free deals on name brands, or just get any old cheapo tyre, its likely to have more grip than a muddy on the road =)

Yeah that's what I was thinking, bartreads whilst looking the part don't handle too well either

Barrtreads aren't that bad.

There's always near new 205r16s on gumtree for cheap. 750x16s are your other option if you can find them, they will probably suit your gearing better.
