Hi all,

Car still running like shit, only thing i can think of is the timing belt is out by a tooth or two What is the best method for correct alignment/fitting??

Any info would be great.

Hi, i just replaced mine as per the haynes manual. I had both crank and cam puleys off to replace the oil seals. Then the pulleys are reinstalled with there marks lining up (they have marks on each pulley which line up with marks above them on the motor), then the belt is sliped on. A manual explains this a lot better, well the pics do anyway

Thanks mate. I'm hoping it's just the carb needing a proper tune. Just asking in case it's not.

timing light will help sort the timing issue

there are marks on the pulleys that line up, from memory you want the crank keyway pointing straight up and the cam one points down and then they marks will line up, make sure you hav tension on the passenger side of the belt as well

a tooth or two out will barely run!!!

Thanks Royce, I think the belt might be fine then, the car drives normally, its just at idle the thing is playing up. It seems as though it floods itself?? Any ideas??

check your idle solenoid is working and given youve jsut done a head check for airleaks and vacuum hoses off or on wrong

cheers royce, will do. Would you have a brief description on what goes where for the vaccum hoses...airleaks around the manifold??

get a can of aerostrart and spray it around the manifold, if the idle changes you have a leak
