Hi all...2 days ago I noticed an unusal sound,when I go for a drive and let the car sit for a while then get back in and start it, for the first approx 2 seconds there is what sounds like water circulating. I first thought it's coming from the heater core? dunno...so I have been driving around with the heater on to try and remove a possible air block that may be in the system but it still seems to be there,but it does not do it when its cold.
I have checked all fluids and all is fine. It sure sounds like the heater area?
Any ideas or thoughts appreciated

I had this when the plastic timing cover on my g16 was warped and rubbing on the belts... sounded weird, and very much like a fluid being pushed under force. I then had a very similar sound not long after that and it was the bearings in the water pump failing (belt off the pump and sound went away).

My old Subi had this same issue, it was an air bubble in the system that always ended up in the heater pipes, I solved it by letting the car run from cold with the radiator cap off until the thermostat opened, then let the bubble run through and topped it off properly. No problem after that.

Heaps good info....and thanks in_the_blender,I will let it run from cold in the morning with the rad cap off and give that a go.

Not sure if your jimny is the same as how mine sits (mines jimny top on g16 bottom) - but there is a sensor on the thermostat housing that has a 19mm or so hex fitting at the bottom that threads into the housing... if you disconnect the sensor and unscrew that fitting, it will perfectly "burp" the system as it is the highest point (higher than the rad cap for me anyway). I've removed countless air locks this way.

Be careful when doing this though - if the system is under pressure and you loosen it all the way it WILL shoot off and send hot coolant about 3-5m clear of the engine bay and come raining down on you (been there, done that).
