Hi, I'm buying my first 4x4. I like to spent some more time on Fraser & Moreton Is. I'd like to get a suspension lift (might give me a little more margin for error as I'm learning) and a dual battery. My first concern is the suspension lift. I have done some reading, but my knowledge of car mechanics is not so good. I'll be paying someone to do the lift. My question is what is a good, value for money, not going to cause other problems lift? And where in Brisbane can I get it done?
Thanks for any advice.

Ok, thank you. Does anyone else have any thoughts?
I've been also told that I definitely can not put a second battery under the bonnet. Is this the case? If I don't want it strapped down in the boot are there any other options?
Cheers

If your after one that doesn't give u any problems then I wouldn't go any higher then 30mm. King, efs, old man emu dobinson, ironman do a 40mm lift... 30mm and 225 75 16 size tyres. Look into bash plates though. As for dual battery they do not fit under the bonnet. If you have any other questions feel free to ask,
Cheers

Thanks for the advice. Ryan at direct suspensions was really good to deal with. Should have the lift done this week.
My next noob question is about dual batteries. I have bought a 20amp dc-dc charger, can I plug the charger directly into the aux cig socket in the rear of the vehicle and then connect the charger to my agm battery?
I'm not really confident in running wiring from the starter battery to the rear of the car.
I'm also thinking of just getting a small slimline 55amp/h battery just to run a small 36L fridge. Are there any major issues with getting such a small 2nd battery?
Thanks in advance for the help.

As long as you have a DC-DC charger the smaller battery is not an issue (from the charger aspect), the question is how long will it run your fridge for, and I would not use the "aux cig socket", you'll blow the fuse, if you can't run the necessary cabling yourself, have someone else do it.
The primary reason to run a heavy cable is to minimize voltage drop, and whilst the DC-DC charger does compensate for the voltage drop, it will do so by increasing the current drawn. and that circuit can not handle the 20A charge rate, it's most likely a 10A fuse.
