Cant think of anyone in aus who competes in those sorts of events in a sierra. Big reason is sizings... little to no storage and a lot of work to get them to strength levels capable of long enduro events... best of looking at malaysian rainforest challenges, costa rica 4x4 events etc

Couple of guys from the nsw suzuki club did half the first outback challenge in a sierra.
Darren said the stages were easy as but the night driving almost killed them.
A few times they work up in the bush after falling asleep
They car weight was the problem. It was close to 2 ton so they had to straighten the diffs every night
It was a swb with 3in body lift with both sierra and swb vitara fuel tanks. 2x spare 33 and tbi 1.6
All the food ,water, spares and tools they needed they had to carry . The hardest bit was the more then 1000km they had to drive each night between stages.

Suzukis are the worst possible car for the longer Comp events held here. The rules and format were originally developed by patrol and rover drivers to make them feel good about their cars.

The Thai guys has a go in their Suzuki/Toyota hybrids a few years ago. There's been a few guys try with more standard cars in the touring class but transfer gearing is forbidden.
There's been down cars built that are basically just a sierras cab on patrol/whatever running gear, but they're not relevant.

They look to do very well at Gas Dash. Not quite what the op was asking about though? Looks like the gas dash cars are fairly stock.

yeah the rules for the Sierra cup are about for a Class 7 (Production 4x4) there are a few mods in the Sierra cup that will put you up into Class 8 (Mod 4x4)

in saying that the Gas Dash is a "flat track" race and a Sierra has won class 8 (Mod 4x4) at that event

but yeah I get what you are saying the OP is perhaps a little vague , but when does a Sierra become more (or less) than a Sierra ?? like you mentioned before a V8 Sierra isnt really a sierra

re reading hayden1992,s question
I would say the Tuff truck event videos are not too bad , iron man has never had a Sierra ....yet :)

but if you want good 4x4 comp stuff that is worth watching the Malaysian rainforrest challange is good , as is King of the Hammers , maybe not much in the way of Sierras but cool action
